Didn't read the thread at all (I mean, I read the first sentence of the OP's post but....that's about it).
Anyway.....I like to think of dogs as man's first "invention". They've been our companions and friends for thousands of years. They provide us with companionship, protection, production (The hunters) and entertainment. To harm a dog (Or otherwise use one in a way that fails to respect the HUGE, positive impact these animals have had on us) is a sign of ignorance (At best) or "Knowing" cultural retardation (That means you admit to what dogs have added to our lives but you decide to ignore that and treat them like shit anyway). EDIT: I should mention that THAT ("Cultural retardation" in the modern sense involves those that use dogs as a food source and those that fight them as a form of gambling). |

Eh, dogs are pretty cool. They'll adore the shit out of you as long as you love them and provide for them. That's pretty neat I think.
But on the other hand, lots of people who can't otherwise have normal emotional and social interactions with other humans find refuge in dogs for precisely this reason. Just look at how many people here have said that they value an animal life more than a human life, especially the total bad asses who have said that they would kill you to save their dog. I'd save a good Fido over some criminal shitbag any day, but a good Fido vs a good human? See ya Fido. |

I truly believe that anyone who would mistreat a dog (or a cat or any pet) would mistreat a child. I've seen it too many times.
I also believe that most people no longer understand the difference between humans and animals. In many places you can get in more trouble for abusing your dog than from abusing your child. Its on the news all the time. Having been in homes of some (and I do mean some) people who own/keep dogs in their houses and treat them like kids the dirt and smell are almost unbelievable. I've been in homes where dog shit is smeared into the floors/carpet. Where the smell is so bad its difficult to breathe. I've seen people take their dogs to a water faucet and wash their dirty asses after they've shit. I've hear people talk about letting their dogs sleep in the bed with them. Not at/on the foot of the bed, but under the sheets/covers with them. I've sat in the vet's office waiting for one of our dog's appointments and heard old folks talk about spending $3,000 or more on surgeries and tests for their little house dogs. They've lost the clear understanding that a dog is a dog and not a human, not their child or grandchild and they put a financial burden on themselves with vet bills for an animal they could replace for less than $100. Just my opinion. |
|
And in this case, OP, I just wanted to make sure you know I am speaking directly about YOU, I like most any dog, better then YOU. I would walk past YOU burning in a fire to save a dog... Get it? Now, back under your rock... |
