I just restored this little ManSon metal lathe from the 40's. Banana for scale. I have no idea what to make with it....maybe make a tiny'er lathe.

That's so cool.

So, it has a working lead screw. Can you describe what the function of the lower right lever does.

Does it work just for feed or can it work as a half nut and cut threads?

I want one.

Should be able to change gears in the head stock to control feedrate.

Lap of luxury there... We were so poor in a little community, we had to use brass pipe fittings in high school...

I just realized how ridiculous this sounds if I ever told my kids..

I've got a Sherline endmil with DRO and all of the fun upgrades. I'm running 80% lowers through it right now. Next project is a gun vise that will fit on top of a manfroto joystick ball head and tripod.

OP, could you make your own aluminum 10/22 scope rings, gun to flashlight extended mount, or other very small project? What about building book ends out of aluminum tubes like an erector set looking truss? Build it, have it high sheen polished, or media blasted the. Clear coated. After a few projects, I'd keep that thing on top of a bookcase as a kick ass decoration!

I do repair old clocks. I have watchmaker's lathes, they are a different pattern than this one. I'm guessing that it was meant to be an instrument lathe or something similar. It's a nice piece. If it works as good as it looks I'd like to have it!
