First...if this is not the place to post this MODS please move me in the right direction.. just wasn't sure.  Thank you

Ive seen several videos online about making your own ammo can locks.  I like the idea with using the locking hasp parts but I cant seem to just find that part alone.  It comes with the plate I don't need.  Ive been to home depot etc but its all sold as a kit and I don't need all of it.

Any ideas where I can just get the "U" shaped part with the 4 screw holes circled in the pic

When I did it, I just bought the whole hasp and tossed the piece I didn't need.

Keep in mind that by using that and putting a master lock through it, the weakest point is the small gauge wire that pulls the lid shut - that can be cut in seconds - Be careful what you store in them...

To keep small children out, good, but won't stop someone from picking up the can and walking away with it.

With a backing plate.  Not going to keep them out forever, but it will take longer than a cheap hasp fastened on the outside.

Just use 120mm ammo cans, if someone can walk off with one of them full of ammo your bullets where not going to stop them anyway.

The lock could be cut nearly as easily.
