Had both last night, and the shrimp with the head still attached was by far much more tasty.
Has GD noticed a difference? And I don't know how to do a poll. |

I generally buy head off shrimp when I'm feeling lazy or am going to just fry them. Head on shrimp is the shit for making seafood stock. My cioppino recipe is
I don't buy any seafood unless I'm within 50 miles of the coast though. Now that I'm in middle GA, it's a lot of striper and trout I catch myself. I miss Savannah seafood. |

Head off. Boiled 90 seconds with Zatarains. Dipped in home made cocktail sauce.
Never, ever grill shrimp. That's for tourists. |

Heads on. Horrified my wife the first time she ever saw them cooked that way. She can eat almost as much as I can now, though.

Off. I love shrimp but if its staring back at me it proves difficult to eat knowing its a cockroach of the sea.

What you are were probably two different varieties and/or age... Head on doesn't explain difference in taste. And head off, butterflied and fried with St Augustine pink sauce is the only way to go. If you are ever in St Augustine, do yourself a favor and hit up O'Steens.

When I buy head on shrimp, I pull the head, take the top shell off, bread and fry the "grasshoppers". Taste like softshell cra s.

On our honeymoon on Oahu my wife and I bought shrimp at a shrimp farm. They cooked it on the side of the road. I ordered mine steamed and she got hers sweet and sour. She flipped when she saw the heads. I had to cut the heads off. She said the little eyes were looking at her.
I love tempura / fried shrimp heads at a sushi joint. |

Head on for a boil or a gumbo, but it's damn near impossible to find here in Ohio.

How about crawdads? You guys eat the tail and suck the head too? I've eaten the entire crawdad a few times, but I mostly just like to eat the tails. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Off with it's head!
I know how to tear them apart and eat them if I have to but the butchering ought to be done by the chef - including removing the sand vein. |
