So my 18 year old daughter broke her Iphone tonight. She has had it two years and has not kept it in a case. I told her previously I am not going to buy her a phone when she drops it and breaks it. Well tonight, she dropped it and broke it. She has a job and has money to buy a new phone, but she is saving for college and doesn't want to pay for another iphone. Do you guys know of an inexpensive smartphone that is available to use with ATT?? Thanks in advance.

call att and talk to someone in india.. if it's past two years you may be able to get an iPhone c for one dollar... i had called about my verse and they tried to sell me on that.. also, if she's had it two years she's gotta be due for an upgrade, i.e. cheap phone

Another vote for the Lumia line. Windows is a great OS and has a lot of neat features and it runs super smooth, even on lower end hardware.

This.

I got two of them through Boost Mobile for $60 and activated them on Ting.  We're light users, so our bill is usually around $35 a month.  Those are on the Sprint network, but I'm sure you could find one for a reasonable price that will work on ATT.

Best part is, the screen is a slab of Gorilla Glass that runs the entire length of the phone.  Tough as nails.  I don't even have mine in a case and it still looks brand new, even carrying it in the same pocket as my keys.

The only complaint I have with it is that the camera could be better.  Everything else works great.

If you go through Best Buy, they have the LG G3 and Galaxy S4 for $1 and Galaxy S5 for $99 (sales should be good through Saturday). It kinda sucks because my upgrade is available in a few weeks and I was thinking I might get the LG G3 the $1 sale will be over then.

Can you buy used? A few years' old phone will cost under $50.

I used Glyde to buy my current phone for $45.

You can sort by carrier. Here's a Lumia for $30:

The only issue is that it takes like 1-2 weeks to get the phone.

ETA: +1 for using Ting. I don't use mine much, so <$20/mo and no contract.

Have you looked at repair services? Probably about $100-$150 to have a complete new screen installed.

I didn't think about repair services. I just had my wife's ipad screen replaced for $99 today. I would imagine an iphone would have to be less.

Another vote for the Moto G 4g. I have an att branded one that I use for straight talk. I bought mine brand new on eBay for $110  and am very happy with it.

$44.99 but you get what you pay for. My biggest complaint about it is the ass backwards engineer who designed the thing put the "back" button on the left side instead of the right which is the industry standard.

I only use it as a secondary phone. My Note II is my primary.

Another vote for the moto g.

If you're OK re-upping her contract, there are a number of phones available for 0-49 bucks from ATT.

If your buying it outright, the moto g LTE is hard to beat for the price.
