Loved some of it but hated the sad part.

Went to see it with my parents when I was 11 years old (1957).

Another sad dog movie was "Goodbye My Lady".  That was in 1956.

"The Yearling" (1946) was the saddest animal movie I saw as a kid.

good movie but like most disney movies fucks kids heads up. The kid being the man of the house while his dad was away had to step up and make hard decisions. from that story we get people thinking to be a man you need to shoot your dog now, rather than spending 100 bucks to put them down peacefully. Old Yeller was a terrific story though.
