The MP-35 John Perry and the rest of the CDF from Old Mans War carried around. Good book, but that gun was to the book like a mole on Cote de Pablo's face.

James Bond's Walther PPK is the silliest gun ever used by a fictional character. Fine, they want a .380 so it won't print through his tuxedo, but you'd expect MI 6 to give him a pistol that worked, like a Colt or a Beretta.

My dad has a PPK, and AFAIK he's never had a malfunction with it.

Congratulations.

You and 110 conclusively proved that the other hundred or so people I met didn't know what they were talking about when they sold their Walthers at a significant loss because they said the things were jam-o-matic, slice-o-matic piles of garbage.

Dual .38" Super 1911s - based on the round count & time frame, if I remember.  Still might be Hollywood reloads.

Escape from New York:

Scope mounted on a suppressor on an UZI, and M16s with no handguards.

There's another movie I'm trying to think of.... A computer in a storage bunker or something was self-aware and running government systems or whatnot.  Couple FBI agents are attempting to shut it down and the computer sends in other agents to stop them.

Anyway, they had an M16 that looked nothing like an M16.

In literature, Dirk Pitt upgraded his trusty old Colt .45 grip to hold 13 rounds.

There was a time when the Para Ordnance P14 was sold as a frame only, to be fitted to the slide of your choice.  Lets not talk about the fact that before he got the hi cap .45, he had a C96 broom handle mauser behind the driver seat of his shelby cobra

I seem to recall him climbing a flight of stairs, shooting to slide lock w/ both guns, and dropping both magazines - which must've been a feat w/ the left hand gun.

It's really not hard or counter-intuitive to hit the mag release with the middle finger.  If you have short thumbs it's actually easier than normal.
I have the mag release reversed on my 92SB for that reason. Right hand shooter; use the middle finger to drop the mag.

actually Commander Bond's Walther was .32, maybe they operate better than the .380.

I have owned five or six PPK (and PPK/S) models in .380.  German made and American made.

Mine have always been reliable.

The piece was originally designed as a .32 though, and thus not originally built for .380 ACP.

- German made PPKs were superb quality.

- American made PPKs made by Interarms were usually very good, but pieces made in the last year of production before Interarms went under were "sometimes" of poor quality.

- Smith and Wesson made PPKs are a coin toss.  Some are good, and some are pieces of shit.

Anyone in this thread who is making blanket statements and lumping German made PPKs in with Smith and Wesson ones, does not know what they are talking about, period.
