A big Australian Saltwater Croc would eat that little gator for lunch.

I don't think that's how forced perspective works. that is exactly how it works. they put the kid in front of the right tire, tie the gator (which is big, but not as big as that picture makes it look) to the left end of the bucket and take the picture at an angle. |

Still seems to be a big fuckin' gator. That tractor is a little over 9 feet to the top of the cab, not sure how much higher the front bucket can reach. Maybe another 5 feet. 14 Ft = big fuckin' gator, at least in my book.

Okay. You're right. It's about 4 feet long in reality.
ETA: That's still a lot of gator nuggets. |

To me, it doesn't look to be taken at an angle. Maybe I'm wrong but the photo looks to be taken at an adults height straight on. The kid height and tractor height look to be about right to me too. |

Dang! Have you seen the 10 foot long rattlesnake? http://ww4.hdnux.com/photos/37/42/17/8266707/13/920x920.jpg View Quote Now this I understand is forced perspective through depth perception. |

View Quote I don't think anyone is asserting that this was a small animal, but the guy claims "almost 15 feet," and I am skeptical about that claim (as is the FL Dept. of Wildlife, which will supposedly be examining the animal today.) Heck, maybe it is 14'+, probably making it in the 80 years old+ range. |

There are some better photos showing the angle out there, I'll see if I can dredge one up---you can tell that the wheels of the tractor and turned all the way to the right, so with the kid standing directly in front of the right front tire, he is even farther back from the animal than he first appears. ETA: Here's one with less cropping at the bottom that shows that better: http://image.nola.com/home/nola-media/width620/img/outdoors_impact/photo/20082153-mmmain.jpg View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I think I understand what you're saying now. So the kid isn't actually touching the foot? |
|
The kid isn't even close to touching the foot. He's several feet behind the gator. Kid is next to the front right tire and gator is hanging from the front left of the tractor.

That JD model has almost 14' of lift height to the bottom of the bucket. In this pic it is curled, I'd buy the gator being 15' snout to tip of tail.

And the tractor looks to be a 7230, which is pretty big at like 9.5' tall.

I worked for a dinosaur once. Then the city RIF'd him into an early retirement.

Um no, Alligators and crocodiles aren't related to dinosaurs. THESE GUYS, however, are. https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/ba/41/72/ba4172cee3d5befd96243c69985ab9da.jpg View Quote They aren't related because they are dinosaurs |

15 footer. Not giant, but really big nonetheless.
ETA: News said he was blamed for a few disappearing cows. |

They can fudge an extra foot or so....that's still a big damned alligator.
Do not want. Except maybe for the boots/wallet/belt combo. |

DNA evidence has shown that the animal which shares the most common ancestry with the T-rex is.......Chickens.
Talk about getting the evolutionary short straw... |

I thought this was going to be a Christian bashing thread, OP I am disappoint.
ETA: I'm not the Anti-Christ, I just find those threads entertaining sometimes. |
