I'm wanting to built a compact SBR with a 7.5" barrel.

Been looking a PDW style stocks.

I was thinking about getting the Troy stock, because it's a bit better than the NEA stock, but it's $500.

Then I found the stock HK parts sells. Only $300 and doesn'trequire a proprietary BCG. Has anyone tried this stock?

Check out the CMT PDW receiver.

The LWRC ultra compact is what you really want.

But that one looks better than the Troy or NEA.

I want something different. Not just another stock on a buffer tube

That is either a very heavy spring or there is some sort  of other buffer in that tube.

I want one of RDTCU's builds.

Tell me what you think you'll gain over an LWRCmini.

Here's the thing, they look cool, but offer shittier options on cheek weld and can interfere with safety manipulation.

And you pay more.  I don't even get this retarded PDW trend.  I have an 8'' AR, its not like I'm putting the thing in my pants pocket.

Bought one of the NEA stock systems about a year and half ago from a guy that needed Christmas cash. Got it for $250.
I like it. I realize there are better ones now, but for the $250, I'll stick with it.

I was just about done gathering parts for a 7.5 PDW and purchased a Troy kit for it ($380 at Primary Arms by the way).

Ended up scrapping that plan and going for a longer barrel with a Law Tactical Gen 3M folder.  A 10.5 with Law folder will be roughly the same length (folded) as a 7.5 with PDW type stock.  Can't fire more than once with stock folded but only takes a second to deploy.  Allows for a longer barrel with more useful ballistics and real cheek weld out of the same sized package.

Fuck Troy.
That being said, buy a LAW Folder. Robust, easy to install, badass.

Like I said, I want something different that isn't on a conventional buffer tube.

I like to be different. Case in point:

Knights M110 can on a bolt gun

To be fair, the UCIW isn't a conventional buffer tube.

It's shortened, and uses a special buffer and spring.

It's also lighter than all of the other options, and adds no extra parts to the gun (numerically).  It's also cheaper than all the other options, and when it's time to shoot, you get to use a real stock with a single, solid attachment point.

Be different for the sake of different all you like.  Don't let me stop you.

I just feel compelled to point out that you're sacrificing low cost, light weight, reliability, simplicity... in order to be different.

Basically, all the reasons you would have an AR15 in the first place.

So...  why not just forget about it being an AR15?

I just picked up the MVB PDW stock.  No reports, as I'm holding on a form 1 before I put it all together, but just from holding it, I like it.

It's pricey, but it's not Troy, and doesn't require a proprietary BCG.

I really lean toward that myself due to the various buffer options, and the fact that it only takes one hand on the stock parts to manipulate.

It seems like the other rail stocks require some precarious or awkward two handed shit on the mount and the butt at the same time.  It'd be fine if you could yank them open from a soft detent like an MP-5 stock, maybe some you can, but it doesn't look like the BAD stock is like that, and that's the only other one I'd consider ergonomically.
