Reason I'm asking is the thread on the concierge service doctors and members who think
paying $2000 to $3000 thousand a year works out better for them .

I guess if you call and want to see your doctor for every cough or runny nose you have it might be a better deal.

Primary every other year, Endocrinologist, once a year. SOP check ups for meds ect.

I tried to see my primary for small infection issue this year, and was told it would take a month. if I wanted to see anyone sooner It would have to be a PA.

My employers insurance is worth it for meds, the concierge Doc wouldn't be worth it even after meds.

I'm 44

My doctor insists I have a physical ever year, including blood work. I usually end up having to go a couple more times a year. Last year I broke my toe and had a kidney stone, so that bought me a few more visits.

I used to hate going to the doctors but one day my regular doc was out so I got this new doc. He asked all the right questions and really got me off a bunch of medications he thought were useless and into newer ones that were more effective. I have since switched to him and I feel better than ever. Hypertension down. Blood sugar normal. Cholesterol good. My old doc had me of shit ton of meds and all those metrics were always in flux

I almost never go. The only time I would the verdict was the same. Allergic rhinitis. He'd give me a new drug that wouldn't work and I'd go home to suffer more. It wasn't worth the co-pay. Hell, it wasn't worth it when I didn't have a co-pay.

I only go for things like a broken rib or a kidney stone.

I mean to start getting yearly physicals however, as it is important towards future detection of changes that might result in early detection of some cancers, etc...

I do check my BP and blood sugar a couple times a year though, as that can creep up on you.

Once a year for my annual physical, other than that I rarely have any need to see him.

Had colon cancer 15 years ago, lots of doctor/hospital/oncologist/etc. visits for a while but finally got through that. Now I get a colonoscopy every three years.

Once a year for a full physical.  Last year was the first year I started doing physicals and my family is very thankful they did.  Turns out the blood tests found that I had a Rare form of leukemia, but we caught it pretty early.  I doubt a concierge Dr.  would have gotten that.

56 years old, last visit to doctor was in 05 for a brown recluse bite. Before that was in 98 for strep. Before that it was for the only time I ever got the flu back in 83. Get my blood pressure checked when I donate blood as long as it is good I don't worry about anything as long as I feel good. I try to be proactive with my health eat right and exercise daily. Part luck, part genes and part daily routine. My Grandfather got threw off a horse at 97 so I'm hoping I got some of his genetics. He also fathered his last kid at 72.

With one exception I haven't been in a doctor's office since I was 16. The one exception was to have a suspicious mole removed and biopsied (it was fine).

I am 42 now.

Getting to the point where I need to go see a doc soon, have a couple of things I am concerned about.

As an after thought my DR has told my wife(who seems to be sick all the time), that I will pay for my arrogance about all the weak sick people and find out what it is like for everyone else.By the way I have 310 sick days built up,will lose all but 120 which I can use to buy an extra year of retirement.

You're at the age where it might be a good idea to have a primary care doc. If anything to establish a baseline for you and to keep a look out for things that can creep up on you like the diabeetus.

If you have insurance check with them and see if they have a list of who's in the network. Ask around at work too.

I'm 30.  The last physical I had was in 2013.  Before that... 2006 when processing to go to Afghanistan.  Went to a doctor last year because of bronchitis.

Had a wellness screening, work hosted, all my #'s are good.

I haven't had a primary care physician since I was too old to go to my parents' pediatrician.

I don't think I've had a checkup since the sports physical I had to have to enroll in PE my junior year of high school.

Up through grad school, tuition paid for healthcare through Student Health Services. Broken bones, stitches, pneumonia, whatever.

In the decade since... I go to urgent care if I need antibiotics. Wife sews me up if I need a few stitches. I pay for insurance in case of a catastrophic car wreck, or cancer. Guess I just don't see a reason to go to a doctor unless something's wrong. I get bloodwork done yearly through work, so I've got an eye on a few things - cholesterol (was super high, switched to a paleo diet and it's great now), liver whatsit (same story as cholesterol), and PSA (Grandpa died from prostate cancer that spread to his lymph system, dad got it but beat it - my numbers are great... for now).

I don't really understand why I would need a primary doctor.

It has been at least four, maybe five years. The practice I patronize stuck me with him when my previous PCP left. I have yet to meet him. I visit a rheumatologist once a year.

Mine was always booked and told me to wait 3 days for an appointment. I used the Doc in a box and have an annual physical at work.
