Common sight here, every 25yds. there is a hawk or owl or other predator on the side of the road.  Apparently they are trying to get the mice on or near the road that the heat and lights from vehicles attract.  Literally tons of birds die like this every year in Idaho.

Bald Eagles are pretty common here. We have many local birds and lots migrate down from the Kenai peninsula in cold weather. This is an immature one, probably hit by a car, since i found it on the shoulder of the road. You dont see that many road kill eagles, even in Alaska.

Our Red-tailed Hawks hunt the interstates and perch on top of the lights while watching the median strip for small edibles.

They manage to stay out of the way of the cars, because I don't recall ever seeing a dead one near the highway.
