I want to cut my own foam and need some inspiration.

I bought the $30 soft side cases with a decent zipper and called it good.  Not very exciting, but for going from trunk to range they're quite satisfactory.

Found this in an old thread. This is the general idea, minus pluck foam. Pelican 1600's are pretty small.

An $18 mandolin case for my 8.5" pistol...

For transport purposes (if going out of town), I bring it in a pelican case, can fit 2 SBR's in a 1720.

For in-town range use etc, I either throw it in a reg rifle range bag, or throw them in tennis racket bags, and then toss 4-6 of my SBR's in a foot locker, the purpose of the tennis bags are so they won't scratch up the other rifles.

Like a poster above I am now using the Phitz mandolin case.  Fits the AR pistol great and is a great discreet carry case.

Lol I got mine in a couple days ago.  Ordered it after seeing the thread in the ar pistol section.  I wonder if they have noticed an influx of mandolin case orders.

Still that on Ebay for black and red ones.  Amazon basic colors at $24.  Skulls graphics are more

I wish the uke cases fit them (too narrow I think), the Phitz guys have some cool graphics on them.  And tenor sax cases are $45

Mine cost me a bit over $19 because I had to pay sales tax since the company is in Illinois, like me.  If you saw and held one of these cases you would jump all over buying it, they are as good of quality as any dedicated soft gun case.  And they are padded to boot along with a shoulder strap sewn on the back.

Note to self, when TEOTWAWKI happens the group that seems realllllly into their racquetball and music is not to be trifled with.

My Phitz case is scheduled to arrive today for my Scorpion.

They must notice the influx of orders atleast a couple dozen people on the CZ forum have ordered them, can't imagine many people play the mandolin to get so many orders for cases.

A F style Mandolin case fit my 7.5 perfectly  . A non F style is too narrow to allow AFG with the fixed front sight

Had to cut some of the foam a bit .

Not suitable for foam, but these work well for SBR.

An 11.5 will fit but barely.  Perfect for a 10.5.

Got mine (new) from USRO for $14 shipped.
