What are all you guys using?
Never had electronic muffs before.

After today, my finger is hovering over the Amazon Buy button, just confused on which ones are good. Thanks!

I have the Peltor tactical 100. Actually two because they were on sale. Don't know if they're the best but they work. Even has an aux jack so you can plug music in. The music does not cancel out the microphones so you can hear people talking and have background music.

I like Peltor Tactical 100. Although the spring loaded muff retraction can be bothersome.

I have these muffs and they're decent enough for the coin. Batteries seem to last forever (I think two AAA). They'll take a little abuse and light rain.

ETA: One caveat - It cancels all noise when the cancelling feature a activates.

Seems like the HL's are getting a lot of love, so just ordered a pair. Thanks!
Cheap enough that if they don't work for me, I can try the Peltors as well.

I like them, decent but they really need the gel cup upgrades to seal around safety glasses (plus for all day comfort).

The peltors are nicer but the HL is in that great price range/durability mix where I can buy several for myself and anyone else who wants to shoot with me.

I use the Sonic Defenders under the Howard Leighs. Makes a significant difference when the guys with compensated open guns are shooting.

I recently bought a set of the cheap Peltors, they are no where near as good as the Howard Lights.

I have the new Peltor Tactical 500 but I haven't used in the range yet. Both the 500 and the 300 had sound compression technology. The 500 has bluetooth and few other extras but those are not worth the addition $. Both are huge improvement over the 100 model

I would highly recommending add another $20 more to your budget and get the new Peltor 300.

The 2 sub $50 electronic ear-pro I like are:

Walker Razer Slim
Opsmen M31

both are better than the Howard Leight

Bought a pair of Walkers Razor Slim at Sam's Club the other day for $34.99, mostly just to have a spare.

They're rated at 23 DB, which is good for shotgun and pistol but not great for rifle. I put in a pair of spongies and used them with an AR at an indoor range last week, and the combo worked very well.

SURELY you people are looking at the NRR for these el cheapo muffs. A rating of 22 (23 for the Boveke) is very low for firearms usage.

A good set of muffs will provide have an NRR rating of 30 dB or higher.

$55 muffs

Got a set for cheap on Amazon, so by the time I got the gel ear muff thingy's and a case it was just slightly over a bill. Used to love HL's, they seem to not last as long any more at work.

I use/like the HL Impact Pro model.
A little bulkier but better db rating, and still within your budget.
I also use cloth covers but you buy those separately

The only time I need to double up is if the jackass next to me is running a braked SBR

I double up almost everytime I shoot.
Have HL mentioned already and cheap Calwells {ka-belas buy} over ear plugs.
I have the volume jacked up on both.

Subbed for the extra goodies I haven't seen yet like the gel pads and what not.

Pay attention. They work well and are considerably less than $100.
ETA I also use cheapo ear plugs under these muffs when shooting my AR50.
A friend recommended carrying the cheap foam plugs in the pocket all the time. As much as I shoot, I have found that to be great advice.
Coupled up with these inexpensive HL muffs, it has been extremely effective.

I don't think anyone has mentioned them yet but the Howard Leights are really good.

I also wear the Surefire plugs underneath. They are great as you don't need to roll them up you just stuff them in.

Got the HL's today.  Basic around the house testing is favorable, the real test will be this weekend.  Bang! Bang!

I like that they came with a set of Duracell 's instead of some generic china batteries. You don't see that much anymore. A little thing for sure, but I noticed it.

I shoot indoors a lot and have the HL impact muffs that I throw over the surefire plugs, if I don't shoot for a while sometimes the muffs get glued together from sweat or something, so I have to wipe them off and throw a slip of paper between them before they go back in the range bag.

I have had all the sub-$100 electronic ear pro and the Peltor tac 100's are the way to go for sure.

I think I am going to get some tac 500's soon.

I like Howard-Leight when OUTSIDE.

I had an incident where mine were a little slow to kick on while I was on an indoor range .  That hurt a bit.
