Who here remembers when Hardee's served fried chicken ?  I can remember in the early 90's when they were our go-to place for chicken.  Then one day our local store closed, and years later when it opened Hardee's was a burger joint !!!

I remember 8 pieces being pretty affordable
Would stop on way home from work.  Whole family fed for a few bucks
And the chicken
Was good

I had a long chat with a district manager last January during a Grand Opening at a new Hardee's store.  I mentioned how good the chicken was.  He said the company lost it's rear end on the stuff and nearly ended the company.

It was pretty good though!

That was my very first job. They actually breaded the chicken on site.

Today their chicken tenders are some of the best if Raisin Cains isn't around.

No, but I remember when they served processed roast beef sandwiches that tasted better than Arby's processed roast beef sandwiches.

I liked their chicken biscuits up until a few years ago when they changed to a chicken patty instead of a piece of chicken.

I thought they still did. Grandma and Grandad lived in a one stoplight town and hardees was the only chain there, not even a mickey d's until recently. So they got fried chicken from there often when they didn't want to cook. Which was often.

Not a huge fan of hardees, the worst fast food fries by a mile

My first job as well.  I enjoyed making the chicken and biscuits, but sure hated the cleanup.

Hardees fried chicken was great! and the biscuits were good as well. And although I remember Roy Rogers from my childhood, I don't remember how the food was
I do remember they had a burger creation station for lettuce, tomato, etc

Their roast beefs were phenomenal. If you remember, KFC had 9 pieces for a bird. Hardees came out with 8. Eventually, KFC caved and went with 8. KfC took the breast and made 3 pieces instead of 2 like it was supposed to be.

They dropped the roast beef and chicken.....the chicken was awesome....

I loved Hardee's burgers and was sad to see them close up all restaurants in Texas. The Carl's Tasty Jr. in Texas are OK, but, not as good as Hardee's burgers.

Man I loved those.

Use to be a go-to for me. My last few visits have been disappointing. I don't know if it was just a bad location, but one local place has horrible biscuits.

A Hardees just opened in my AO next to a Dunkin Donuts next to a Culver's next to a WAWA next to a McDonalds next to a Long John Silvers across US 19 from a Checkers.

Hardees pork chop and sausage gravy biscuit
is a killer.

No.  You are totally wrong.  Carl's Junior has been the best thing to happen to Hardees since around 1980.

Hardees fucked up royally when they bought most of the Roy Rogers locations and the rights to the fired chicken recipe.  Before that Hardees had been a great burger place that had developed a roast beef sandwich that was better than Arby's, as someone has mentioned.

But with the Roy Rogers deal Hardees went to SUCK.

They quit being a burger place, they became a chicken place that also sold burgers.  And they began to sink.  In 1985 Hardees had franchises all up and down the east coast.  But after the deal they lost so much business they closed all their locations in many states.  I can't think of very many locations that still exist north of the PA/MD state line.

Hardees made wholesale changes their menu about 5 times in 20 years after they became a chicken place also selling burgers.  About the time people decided they like the burgers and sandwiches on Hardees menu, they would be replaced with something "new and not improved."

They were flailing around and kept sinking.  Eventually Hardees decided to get out of the fried chicken business and concentrate on being a burger joint again.  That stopped their slide but they were still in trouble.  They were struggling to stay in business and to hang on.  No money was available to work on improving the menu and they were caught behind many new offerings by their competitors.

After about 10 years of just hanging on, Hardees was bought by Carl's Junior in the mid 2000s.  It's taken about 10 years but Carl's management is finally getting Hardees back to where they about 1985.

If we are lucky maybe we will see Hardees keep growing and maybe there will be a couple of them within reasonable driving distance of here.

Yup, at the time Hardee's was the only fast food joint in town. During hay season someone would usually go grab a couple of buckets of chicken for lunch. Good times.

I remember both fried chicken and roast beef at Hardee's. Loved it.

The "classic double cheeseburger" at Hardee's is a fair substitute for In & Out at least to my Midwest ass.

yep the new one across
From The Walmart in Marion has fried chicken, it's good and it sure isn't a "loser" here, think an 8pc with 4 biscuits and 2 large side is like $25
