Shit, it's probably been mentioned in the thread, but he's still in there and they sealed the cave.

Dude I sleep in the living room with 25' vaulted ceilings and even that gets to me at times.
Even seeing the images gets me on the verge of a panic attack.
I was a fucking wreck watching as above so below, had to fast forward through a couple of parts and pause it to go outside.

I wouldn't do any of those exhale to squirm by type cave passages, but I would totally try something like this.

A group of four college students tried that a few years back.  One got caught and drowned in the underwater part, blocking the only passage in or out. The others had no way out so they died, too.

Yeah, that's where my diagram came from.

That's a risk I'd take, with a flashlight and just kinda slowly check it out.

I'd never do those super small spaces. That'd be the worst feeling in the world to get stuck

There was a show on a while ago about dangerous jobs.
One was on cave rescue where it was a try out an a section was fingers and toes propelling, tight enough to break ribs if you breathed in to hard.
something like 18 hours if you fucked up and had to be rescued.

I don't mind closed in or tight spaces. Doesn't bother me a bit.

I do mind being trapped inside the earth where I can't move or breath, let alone turn around and rescue is incredibly difficult.

I saw a 6'6" 350 pound man get stuck in a spot like that but it was a horizontal->vertical->horizontal transition. We were climbing under a mountain of boulders in a partially collapsed room and he got STUCK. I thought we were going to have to go get a rescue team but he wrenched himself out when he realized what he was facing. It's a lot of fun, just don't get stuck and bring backup lights for your backup lights.

I got really bored on Okinawa one day and explored a cave that was at least as tight as what was pictured in the OP.  Many places you could only propel yourself with your fingertips and toes.  Also, a lot of upside-down action.

It was a natural cave (many man-made caves made by the japs on Okinawa), and hidden in more-or-less plain sight on Futenma.  An old timer who had been stationed there during Vietnam told me about it, and the general location.  A couple really cool sights inside, in-between all of the very tight tunnels.  One was an underground waterfall that was almost as spectacular as the famous one in Chattanooga.  One or two places where you had to swim across, and several where only your head was above water.  Fifteen years later, I doubt anyone else has gone into it.  The very sight of the entrance would make most sane people say "NOPE!".  If they could even recognize it as being a cave entrance...  It looks like a snake pit, and is located several feet below ground level.

Very much forbidden to do such there.  A lot of buried ordnance and (reportedly) buried barrels of Agent Orange on base.

It was a five hour round trip.

There are UW cavers and then there is this group.

Back in the late 1990's when I did some support work for them.......they punched almost 2 miles into Wakulla Springs at an average depth of 275'.

It don't get more serious than that.

Around two dozen support divers assisted. 24 hours in the water with decompression for the lead divers who were on rebreathers.

Not bad for a bunch of weekend volunteers.

Not sure if that record still stands.

Yep.

Had a buddy mention that happening while exploring a new section while cave diving. The bottom was covered in silt so they had to be careful not to stir it up. There was no rope.

1 guy kicked too close to the bottom, and suddenly, zero visibility, complete disorientation. Because the water wasn't flowing much where they were, they had to wait about 30 minutes while their air ran down, before it cleared enough to reorient themselves and get back out.

Been caving. Been diving. Combine both? Pass.

Naica: Secrets of the Crystal Cave

It's a little TV typical with over dramatized narration, but it was cool and the video you get to watch (the piece itself) is amazing.

Free trial is "Curiosity Stream" which you can cancel immediately.

I know a guy that used to do that back in west Kentucky.  He told me about caves he got into that probably hadn't had people in them for thousands of years.  He would find some cool artifacts that way.
