Ever commissioned anything like guns or knives to be engraved with scroll or animals? Who did you use? Can we get some pictures?

Here is some cool stuff to look at that I like...

edit I've seen some horrifying engraving here. I bet there aren't many people who do it anymore.

Most of the engravers aren't taking work. Too busy. Too old. No young blood coming up to do it.

I'll check into the penguin porn engraving.

I saw a folding pocket knife about the size of a Kershaw Leek that had a $12,000 replacement value. Handmade folder, plus engraving.

Friend of mine Brian Bump, is an up and coming engraver.  His father is master knifesmith Bruce Bump.  He has been doing most of Bruce's engraving for a few years now.  Here is but one example.

His work on knives is amazing. I see on his FB Page he did one revolver. The website looks like they just engrave what knives they make.

My grandfather had a Mauser 30-06 done by Kurt Jaeger when he was stationed in Germany in the 50s. I have it now.

Brian will engrave whatever is desired for whomever is will I'll ng to commission it.  He does a lot of work for his father.  But not exclusively.  I have seen several other makers have work done.  Give him a call.  He is very personable.

There is a story about this gun.

The owner, pissed as Hell at that, went to his gunsmith and said "I need jack off."

A common theme with engravers. I've found a few that did amazing work. But were retired, or deceased.

I'm kind of surprised there isn't a set of ready-made templates to laser engrave scroll work on common guns.

Many of the guns with my favorite engravings are European double rifles. I've not seen a muzzle loader engraved.
