Dude was showing off with too many people with no PPE for one, super lucky they didn't get knocked the fuck out AND ejected.
Don't know the actual cause, does look like he was trying to get the throttles or transmissions (or both if combined) to do stuff and they really didn't want to cooperate. I think there's pics of the boat on the net post crash, tore huge gashes in the side. |

From what I recall, Baldy had too much boat for experience level. He went across either his own or another boat's wake while hot dogging. He face planted and was knocked out.

Being a guy with a boat and jetski, who has spent a good amount of time on the water, the douchebaggery in that clip is unsurprising. The (true) stories I've heard or seen of massive, injurious, and/or fatal accidents are numerous and horrific.
A boat can be the least forgiving vehicle for stupidity or bad decisions. I have witnessed plenty of both in my time on the water. |

Watched an boat accident investigator go thru this pretty much frame by frame when it first happened. It's a training video now.
In the background before it all goes to hell you can see the cruiser whose wake he hit on a diagonal. The reason the throttles don't seem to work at that point is, the lower units are not in the water. You can see there is no wake in places because the boat is airborne. Numbnuts is chopping the throttles to prevent over-revving. It's damn lucky everyone stayed in the boat, the props were still turning with no one at the helm. |

In all these years I don’t think I’ve ever seen the full video. That chick sure is concerned about her nails.
I don’t know about the throttle not working or how you could tell. Those big ass boats don’t stop on a dime. Run into a wave bad and lose it and that’s what happens. Lucky they aren’t dead. |
