Sure as shit looks like it. Although ball lightning is very sensitive and comes apart easily.
So I'm suspicious that it could arc to such large grounded conductors such as rail lines and those signal poles and not dissipate. So that has me thinking at least 50% odds of CGI. The arcs look suspicious and the lens flare is kind of fucky too. The sparks from the arcing seem to fall and fade a bit unrealistically too. It also cuts out just before it reached the treeline, which kinda indicates someone not knowing how to make convincing CGI there too. If I had to bet money between the best ever video documentation of ball lightning and CGI fake, I'd have to bet fake. |

Wheteher it's fake or not, who knows? The rail line is electric as those are caternary poles to carry the current. Ball lightning is most definitley a highly charged plasma and probably has a strong charge around it, even past the parts that we see. Plasma will create a great conductive path, so it's not much of a strecth to think that it caused arcing when in close proximity to the several thousand volts those lines were carrying.
Air by itself is a pretty decent dielectric (insulator) under normal conditions. However, when you have a plasma, you have ionized fields that become very conductive. I'm going to say this could be real, if so a very rare and nice capture. |
