She's always had good hair. In 40 years I've never seen her with a bad hair style.

They were mockups.  John Milius said the CIA stopped and talked to him about his tanks/armored vehicles/HINDs and wanted to know how he got real shit
He told them they were mockups.  They were impressed.
The inspiration for the character of Walter Sobchak.
Is that true?
@gohuskers

Yep

The Coen Brothers are huge admirers and also friends of John Milius. They asked the writer to play the part of scary, megalomaniac studio head Jack Lipnick in Barton Fink but he turned them down. Seven years later, for The Big Lebowski, they based the character of Lebowski’s gun-toting, crop-haired, Vietnam vet bowling partner Walter Sobchak - impeccably played by John Goodman – on Milius.

If you are in a Soviet uniform hanging in a tree on my property, you better be a master of baseball trivia.  And be able to answer the questions with a loaded weapon aimed up at you

What if the guy told you the truth that baseball is fucking boring?

If a Russian looking soldier was in my tree and said that, I would welcome him into my country with a high five.

Because baseball is both stupid and boring.

milius is awesome.  wrote and directed conan the barbarian.

i visited the town of Las Vegas, New Mexico where most of Red Dawn was filmed and took a self guided tour of the film locations.  The Calumet mural is still there...

From his wiki article:

I'm not a reactionary, I'm just a right-wing extremist so far beyond the Christian Identity people like that and stuff, that they can't even imagine. I'm so far beyond that, I'm a Maoist. I'm an anarchist. I've always been an anarchist. Any true, real right-winger if he goes far enough, hates all form of government, because government should be done to cattle and not human beings.

I remember back when I was a kid an issue of "Soldier of Fortune" (which we got from the local quick stop because our parents wouldn't let us buy them otherwise) there was an article that talked about all of the equipment for the movie.  I wish I still had that issue and a couple of others.

What you said was wrong!
But oh so right.
You missed it.

Why don't you make yourself useful?
You wash it!
We're never doing your washing again!
Me and her is as good as any of you!
So what's up your ass?
Shut up!
Don't you ever say that again!
Hear me? Say that again, I'll kill you.
Hear me? I'll kill you.
So what did I do?

What you said was wrong.

Its common knowledge that a McDonald's restaurant scene was deleted from the original Red Dawn in response to a shooting that occurred in McDonald's in San Ysidro, CA shortly before the movie's original release.

A picture from that scene is one the back of the cover of my original VHS copy - that I bought new.

Did you know there was a mention of Pizza Hut in Red Dawn?

"The faster we shoot, the faster they shoot back."

Thanks Radames - who played the Soviet paratrooper - for posting that on youtube. He also played young Cain in Kung Fu.

Radames Pera in "Red Dawn" with a never before seen outtake!

That is the only video of deleted scene(s)s outside of the trailer I have ever found from the original Red Dawn.

There is a brief part of a deleted "love" scene between Erica and Col. Tanner in the original movie trailer @ 1:29

"I want to love somebody Andy. I'm going to die before it happens."

Here is a photo of a another deleted scene. Supposedly Jed and the others were helping suffering Americans as best they could.

At this point I doubt we will ever see a "director's cut" of Red Dawn, but I'd be happy to be wrong.

I like to pretend that Red Dawn takes place in the same universe as The Day After l, Team Yankee, and Future War 198X
