There should be a website like Kayak for hotels but for dating. There’s enough metadata on individuals that a clear picture (profile) could be made to increase  accuracy in finding something worthwhile

The ads were all over TV and radio
since 2003.  Not so much in the last five years.

My brother met his wife on there. They've been married almost 2 years.

Not long enough of a sample size to tell me much other than they seem to be doing well.

I did it for awhile about 8 years ago. I also did POF and Match simultaneously. Dating in your 40's...sheesh!

In general IMHO:
eHarmony has a bunch of average looking broads looking for marriage. Some hot chicks, but mostly average looking book nerds. Tons of teachers and nurses. Enjoy going to museums and volunteering at the homeless shelter. An exciting date is Comicon.

Match has a bunch of hotties. "I work hard and party hard and so should you." Mid level managerial types that think they're hot shit. Lots of Karens. Be prepared for Kenney Chesney concerts and blowing a chunk of your paycheck every weekend at the latest hot restaurant.

POF is a real mixed bag. Trailer trash trying to find their dream boat/pay check, but also country gals on a budget as well as divorced or widowed women just dipping their tow in the dating field at the behest of well meaning friends. Be ready to go fishing, to the beach or possibly taking her 6 kids to the county fair.

I have my moments of lucidity and sometimes they're funny.

This has pretty much been my experience too.

I met the most relatable women on eharmony. Most were in the 5-7 range on the looks meter. They loved doing things like Escape Rooms, live theatre, mini golf, spending evenings and weekends at home, or exploring some little town somewhere. As Konger said, most want to get married. Like NOW!!! All the ones that i met wanted to be married in 6-12 months like their friends. Unfortunately, I am not the marrying type.

Match, is for freeloaders. They want one thing...you to spend money. You want one thing...sex. It's more of a business arrangement and I swear that some of the women I went out with were exhookers. The typical relationship that I had there was 3-5 months. Plenty of variety, but in the end, they are the usual plastic people with no personality, no hobbies, no life.

Plenty of freaks is the train wreck of dating websites. Same with OKStupid. I took this one chick to dinner and it turned out the pic that she sent was five years old and about 75lbs lighter. She was cute in the face and had huge boobs. I had two drinks before she arrived, so she didn't look all that bad. She told me over dinner how she worked for a payday loan company, all the dead beats that use their services, her exbf was in prison for dealing drugs, but was getting paroled in less than a year, that sort of stuff. Two more drinks later I suggested we go see a movie. While in the movie, she starts playing with my dick, takes it out, then starts blowing me. We ended up back at my apartment and she tells me she is craving anal. She called me the next evening telling me how embarassed she is that she acted that way, she never does things like that, etc. I told her no problem, but I hope we can get together again soon, to which she agreed and wanted to go out two days after that, then did a repeat performance. That's just one of POF experience, but most of them were like that.

So, different tools for different jobs. If you're looking for something steady that might lead somewhere, go with eharmony. If you want to be a sugar daddy, match. Get laid, POF. All three? Strip club. As always, YMMV...
