Today's lesson: Fae/Faer
Fae/faer pronouns are the most commonly used noun-self pronoun to my knowledge. Their coining can be found here. Complete Set: Objective: Fae Subjective: Faer Possessive Adjective: Faer Possessive Pronoun: Faers Reflexive: Faerself To use common pronouns as a reference, Google search “types of pronouns.” You’ll find charts that break down common pronouns into objective, subjective, etc. Examples: He is my friend ? Fae is my friend I saw him yesterday ? I saw faer yesterday This was his request ? This was faer request That book is his ? That book is faers He loves himself ? Fae loves faerself She is my friend ? Fae is my friend I saw her yesterday ? I saw faer yesterday This was her request ? This was faer request That book is hers ? That book is faers She loves herself ? Fae loves faerself Common Mistakes: Fae/faer is singular unless otherwise specified Say “fae is/fae’s” not “fae are/fae’re” This mistake is made a lot because fae/faer has a similar vowel sound to they/their Don’t assume two pronoun types are conjugated the same way just because they are in another pronoun set For example, the possessive adjective and possessive pronoun in he/him/his are both “his,” but in fae/faer, they are not the same, similar to other sets like she/her and they/them |

It it’s the most popular then that means something else is going to come along and replace it. How can you be super unique and special if everyone else around you is using the same pronouns?
I demand my own special pronouns. These may change daily or even minute by minute, along with my sexuality and personality, so before each encounter with me you should ask who you are speaking with and how to address me. If you sense a change in my personality during a conversation, that would be a good time to ask again how I would like to be addressed as my personality and pronouns may have changed during the conversation. At the moment you may address me as loonyloonycockoo / loonyloonycockoor. |

Last Wednesday, the British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal ruled in favor of Jessie Nelson, a restaurant worker who filed a complaint against their former employer, Buono Osteria. Nelson, who is nonbinary and genderfluid, claimed the British Columbia Italian restaurant discriminated against them by intentionally using incorrect pronouns. They alleged that their former employers deliberately referred to them using gendered nicknames such as “sweetheart,” “sweetie,” and “honey.” In a 42-page ruling, Tribunal representative Devyn Cousineau found that the restaurant’s alleged misconduct violated British Columbia’s Human Rights Act. She went on to write that pronouns are “a fundamental part of a person’s identity” and that their proper usage indicates “that we see and respect a person for who they are.” |
