I work on bikes nearly every day for years on end.

Today my pittsburgh torque wrench just let go when tightening the rear axle nut to 72 ft lbs, like the teeth sheared.  Now any time I put any pressure on it it just slips.  I can hear metal bouncing around inside of it.  I expected this day to come considering its a cheap torque wrench.  surprised it lasted as long as it did.  whatever.

Craftsman 3/8 drive broke when trying to remove front axle nut w/ the axle nut tool.  Pretty sure when it broke it chewed up my 120-tooth craftsman 3/8 ratchet (gunmetal).  It still works but hard to select from tight/loose.

Immediately after my Husky 3/8 drive broke in the same spot.

Never had any tools really break like this.  Just one of those days I guess:

I break things in groups as well. I always just figured it for glitching in the matrix.

China tools break more often than higher quality tools?

Chinese torque wrenches need to be calibrated daily.

You clearly missed one of those days.

As I work with my current tools and they get faulty or break, I just upgrade to snapon.

Craftsman held up decent but 12 years with them, they are breaking. And their new style wrench’s and ratchets are terribly designed. Too easy to hit the reversing lever, wrench heads are overly fat and big, then craftsman “professional” was better 15 years ago

Using an extension keeps your knuckles prettier, regardless of access.

I'm not a tool truck snob but over my career I learned certain tools matter.  I only use snap on extensions and torque wrenches.   I purchased nearly all my sockets at autozone 20 years ago, I've never broken a single one. I have broken many snap on sockets by hand though.

What's the torque on that front axle nut? 3/8 seems kinda undersized.

I read that as “broke four fools” and was instantly taken back to my 90’s South Central gangbanging days.

I think my crowning achievement on breaking tools was snapping the head off of a Matco 1/2 breaker bar followed 20 minutes later by snapping the head off a Snap-On 1/2 breaker bar.  It was at a pick n pull yard and I was trying to get the axle nut off of a 92ish Daytona to get the transaxle. And yes, I was bouncing on it with a piece of fence pipe.

The Matco was mine. I went to the office to borrow theirs and the guy told me no way I could break his. Challenge accepted!

It's 92 ft lbs but I've never had issues before.  And yea 3/8 is undersize IMO but the axle tool I have is a 3/8 drive

Some doods just like to break stuff.
I use 1\2" when something like that comes up.
And they do make adapters.
I own a set of 3\4" drive tools too.

Get a smaller hammer?

As a kid I bent a Craftsmen 3/4" breaker bar with a 5 ton bottle wrench on one end and a '73 Plymouth 'cuda on the other end. I took it to Sears and the guy went and got a new one and exchanged it under the condition that I told him how I managed to bend the breaker bar.

I had the wrench on the wrong end of the torque bar suspension. I was on the rod end, not the adjustment screw. I had the 'cuda about 3" up in the air before I realized it and the bar went bend.

I'm still using 23 year old Craftsman sockets I bought when I started. I did break 2 Snap On socket last week.
