Consequences of a Spotify music economy,
People more showmen than musicians. Carefully cultivated public image with some hook rifs written by other people. It's milli vanilli type thing. I can't listen to any of it. |

Two different styles. You like one style, you don't like the other style. I don't like Metallica. It doesn't mean that Metallica is bad, just that I don't like it. No big deal.

Never got to see Blondie in concert, but I loved the hell out of all their stuff. Saw Madonna in 1986 and she definitely had talent. She did a wardrobe change between almost every song and sounded fantastic. No lipsincing. One of the best concerts I've been to. Too bad she went batshit crazy.

My opinion (worth what you paid for it)-
Debbie Harry’s and Madonna’s products are somewhat similar. The big difference is that Debby Harry’s product was a natural extension of 70s culture (this, by itself, could be a dissertation). Blondie (and Harry’s subsequent solo stuff) were more about music that was reflective of culture. It featured remarkable musicians. Madonna, on the other hand, has an entirely manufactured product that was more about culture and less about music. It wasn’t organic, it was all created by design. Ciccone started with an art project in mind, and built that project brick by brick. The creativity of this project is undeniable, but it’s less about the music and more about performance art. For this reason, Madonna has much more in common with Gaga than with Debbie Harry. This makes Gaga’s performance art entirely derivative, but that’s another topic. |

Because Madonna is preachy about shit. I like some of her music OK.

One is unabashedly true to self. The other is a money grubbing fake.
I'll take Debbie, she is the real deal. |

Are you sure you're just not attracted to Madonna? I've never found her attractive, no matter how much the media insisted that she was.

View Quote Derivitive = their influences are easily heard, which means they're less original. True artists eventually dispense with blatantly immitating their influences and come into their own. Being derivative isn't bad per se, but it will never occupy the rarified air of the Halls of Valhalla in popular music. |

Sheck Wes - Mo Bamba (Official Music Video) This is what I came in thread expecting |

Incidentally, this song has always reminded me of Christmas. I heard it for the first time when I was walking through the Student Union building at Weber State after finals in December 1980.

I never heard of the Moe one, but she's not as good looking or built as well as DH. [shrug]

You catch the utter beat down (40-0) that my Bobcats handed Weber State this evening? I had been a little nervous about that one coming into it. Guess my worry was for naught. ETA: I do root for your Wildcats whenever you play the umbrella grizzlies. They got their asses handed to them down at Flagstaff today. I was luvin' that!. |

Quoted: LOL no. I haven't followed Weber State football much lately. I'm not surprised though; BYU stole their coach so there was going to be a drop off this season. View Quote I think that despite the blowout, Weber does have a decent team this year. But the Big Sky Conference has gotten so competitive these days. 4 or my 5 kids live near Provo, but aren't huge BYU fans. |
