The wing did flex

The other wings look like high downforce wings that I didn’t think they used in BAKU.

Did anyone else notice the TV director was fixated on the McLaren mechanics in parc ferme?
It got uncomfortably creepy.

As a McLaren fan I don't want to admit this, but on one of the first few laps as Oscar was hunting Charles on the main straight, there was a shot from behind of the cars and I was looking for Oscar's DRS to open.

But as I watched, it looked to me like Oscar's wing had already opened. It was narrow, and I thought to myself it didn't open very wide, it must be the low-downforce wing, and I need to learn where the activation point is. As soon as I finished that thought, the DRS activated for real and I had an "OOOOhhhhhh" moment.

Since the car is through parc ferme I imagine the results will stand, but we'll have some type of clarification or notice from F1 before Singapore.

After watching the replay, that wreck being SAI and PER was all SAI fault.   PER didn't have to move because SAI had enough space but drifted over to the left.

Really gotta feel for Checo, puts in work and almost grabs the podium to have some dude take him out for no reason

SAI drifted slightly - but Perez, being the car mostly behind, could have easily avoided that contact and inevitable outcome.   Most everyone who isn't trading dick pics with Christian Horner would agree to that.

See also: every side by side racing incident for the past century... Where the lead driver tried to close the door on the guy just behind and force them to let out.

The car in front has the right to the racing line, the car behind has a right to a car's width.

Perez shunted his P4 finish because he's an idiot.   Siding with him will just encourage further outbursts!

There is moving slightly, and suddenly slamming the door on someone, Sainz slammed the door, when he knew he was in traffic. I don't think Perez could have avoided him.

And I say this as someone who has disliked Perez since he came into the sport as a pay driver.

Piastri admitted that if his overtake attempt on Leclerc failed Leclerc would have won the race with a certain margin.

I agree with that statement from what I saw.

Charles claimed that he thought he would have been able to pass him again later, and didn’t want to cook his fresh tires immediately. Doesnt change the fact he should have defended on the inside though

Maybe Charles didn’t know about McLaren extra drs at the time….

I believe you are wrong. Sainz didn’t slam anything and the onboard of his car clearly show that he does not slam or violently steer towards the left.

https://youtube.com/shorts/x8Pkhcb47Yc?si=UsdqupFGxFPnUlK6

More like they both drifted towards Charles slipstream to get a tow.

The only thing is that checo could see sainz position way better than sainz coild see checo

If I were Haas, I'd let Bearman take the wheel for the next race, just to make sure that he's really that good.
I like Magnussen, but Bearman looks to be much better, and one more race should confirm that.  If so, let him finish out the year.
Unlike most weeks, both Haas cars were doing well yesterday.

Perez could have continued to pass by drifting right.   He had the overtaking speed.   Instead he was a DNF.  Oops.   Acting like drivers don't have to take corrective action to avoid wheel to wheel contact is insane.

How many times has Checo butt fucked a wall this year?   4?   5?

It's definitely not him!

It's very risky. They're in a points fight. Right now Williams. If Bearman has a bad Sunday due to inexperience it won't pay off. But would he be any worse than K-Mag?

I think the FIA will be taking a look at that rear wing. Failing that, everyone else will use the same trick.

Autosport

Given that the FIA will have seen the upper flap's leading edge rotating rearwards from the onboard footage (red arrow, inset), as it has been doing so for a number of races already this season, it would suggest the ruling body is happy that it's within the constraints currently posed by the regulations.

Max was very specific in this complaints. I thought it was interesting; he used to have a thing about the shift sync; he'd bang on about it constantly but it would not slow him down. I don't think I've heard that this year.

Yep, it has always been an arbitrary system of control with enforcement being based on producing the best show.

There really isn’t any pure or righteous position to argue from on legality.

He is right on the wing though. It clearly opens like a mini DRS.

No doubt it passed the current tests but that doesn’t mean it’s legal and will stay.

The Ferrari PU passed all the tests a few years ago. Remember how that ended ?

Fact is, it clearly goes against the spirit of the rule. That it passes the current tests is akin to the Ferrari PU passing the tests back then.
