I have never seen that movie and i enjoyed a clockwork orange even if it was kinda disturbing

I never saw it, was too much I think for even my parents. Clockwork Orange I've seen dozens of times though.

Caligula was a nice concept to bring to life, but the movie just isn’t very good. And I’m a big McDowell fan.

View Quote Guccione couldn't decide if he wanted to bankroll porn or a historical epic, and the movie is bad at both. Though has some infamous, and frankly unintentionally hilarious scenes: the combination combine/decapitation machine, the scene where McDowell really gets "into it" ahem. |

I thought the movie was terrible. It was a movie that wanted to be a porn, or vice versa.

I read A Clockwork Ornge while I was a young sailor in Great Lakes. I enjoyed the book so much I rode the train into Chicago to see the movie. I enjoyed the movie as well. I noticed the general audience and I seemed to have different emotions for the same scenes.

Penthouse did a whole layout on the movie back in the day. Oh the things you find when you're 15 and curious.
Never saw the movie. The porn looked pretty cheesy. |

Garbage movie. Just one in a littany of Hollywood shock filth shitting all over our country and our values.

Quoted: I thought the movie was terrible. It was a movie that wanted to be a porn, or vice versa. View Quote The mainstream actors weren't aware of the porn scenes until the movie was released. The PG scenes were edited to include the porn. For example there was a scene where McDowell is looking at his dogs in the original. In the released version the cut to the dogs was replaced with a porn scene. McDowell was not pleased |
|
I saw the unedited version. It was x-rated. I mean, really x-rated. Very explicit IIRC, but the explicit parts were brief.

I watched part of it once. It was pretty awful, and not just because it has porn in it. It was just bad.
|

Probably the worst movie I've ever seen. The whole damned thing was just awful, from start to finish.

The actual true story of Caligula is incredible. The shit that guy did was...I don't even have words for it.
The movie, not so much. It was terrible |

Isn't that the one that had the Roman head chopper going down the road?

View Quote I think the guy that owned Penthouse was the producer for the movie. It was supposed to be a crossover movie. To make lightly X-rated movies kinda main stream. |

I believe the Penthouse guy produced the whole thing, so I'd imagine a lot of internal promotion would have been involved. Edit. Looks like that connection was already addressed. |

No way Caligula could be historically accurate. It would've been illegal on several levels.

I've seen it.
Its a crazy movie about a crazy story and that's about all I will say on the subject. |
|
Seen it a long time ago. Was really nothing special, nice looking girls and set was it. Only scene that stuck with me, was a guy with a funnel in his mouth and they poured liquid while his junk was tied off.
I Claudius, an old Roman pbs series was better and had more nudity. |

Quoted: I watched part of it once. It was pretty awful, and not just because it has porn in it. It was just bad. View Quote This. The bigger issue was Caligula was likely sexually abused as a kid by one of his Caesar-relatives. Nero, maybe? He was batshit crazy, made his horse a senator, yes, sexually obsessed even for the Romans & abused his power ad lib. His Praetorian guard really did kill him. Why it took so long was my only question. I saw Clockwork Orange in the theater when I was 12. I looked much older, at the time of release nobody asked for ID. |

We watched I, Claudius in HS Latin class. Caligula was a weird dude.

Lots of bluster when it came out.
Tried to watch it once. It sucked. |

Quoted: Me too. He was great as Cornelius in Planet of the Apes. View Quote Was that the Marky one? I used to watch anything he was in after cable tv bestowed the gift of A Clockwork Orange. A film that's cemented itself as my all time #1. Kubrick said he wouldn't have done the movie if he couldn't get McDowell. |

I ordered the X rated cut off Amazon of all places a few years ago to watch with the wife. We made it most of the way through but it was a mix of hard core porn and hilariously stupid violence. I may pop it in the player and try to watch by myself one night.
|
|
I would say to watch it once, supposedly they shot the movie then the director inserted a bunch of X-rated porn into the final release, the original was definitely a hard R though.
