View Quote AMD released a statement that they are working with MS to boost performance going back to Zen 3 chips with a future Windows update. Not the first time AMD has had trouble with Window's components costing them performance. 10% performance loss compared to Linux is insane. 10% in todays market can make or break your sales. Crazy to me being logged in as an admin or standard user in Windows changes performance so drastically. |

I'm still going to wait to replace my 7600 cpu until I see how the X3D versions turn out in a few months.

View Quote 7600 is still plenty good so I wouldn't be too heartbroken on potentially skipping a generation. The 9950x3d would have to significantly wow me to move from the 7950x3d, and if it doesn't that's just a few hundred dollars I won't be sad to see still in my bank account. Budget shopping for my brother in law, and the current prices on 7x00 chips make it worth it to me over giving him the latest and greatest. |

Looks like the Ryzen 9000 series are already dropping in price.
9950x Released at $649.00 now $623.28 on Amazon and $623.29 on Newegg. 9900X Released at $499.00 now $449.00 on Amazon and $449.00 on Newegg. 9700X Released at $359.00 now $336.78 on Amazon and $337.66 on Newegg. 9600X Released at $279.00 no drop in price. |

Single CCD CPUs should have 64mb of Vcache.
I'm guessing they accidentally added the on-die L3 with the Vcache to get 96mb... |
|
|
That would be nice. My x570 motherboard took a crap earlier today and I just ordered a new one. I had been planning on keeping my 3900x alive until I could build a new one around a 9900x3d before GTA 5 comes out. I have been working so much overtime lately that I know I can afford the parts, but I'm not sure if I will have time to build it.

Very interesting video, the 5800X3D is still very competitive depending on the game in Windows 11 ver 24H2
I just looked around and it looks like the 5800X3D is hard to find now at a decent price but the 5700X3D is available and much cheaper and only a little slower. Ryzen 7 5800X3D vs. 9700X, 3D V-Cache Still Going Hard! |

I just upgraded to a 5700X3D, it solved all my CPU bottlenecks, and bought me at least another year or two out of my 2019 build. I had decent success with undervolting using PBO2, but unfortunately it's not supported natively in the BIOS, so I have to run the PBO2 command as a task at windows startup. |

I might just go pick this up because it is such a great deal: https://www.microcenter.com/product/685414/asrock-x870-pro-rs-wifi-amd-am5-atx-motherboard
I wanted 5gb or 10gb and 3 or 4 m2s, but for that price I can upsize to 4TB drives and just get a 10gb nic and still come out cheaper. |

Looks like 9800X3D and 9950X3D performance slides have leaked from MSI.
These are engineering samples, so maybe not quite the performance of the retail cpu's. The 9800X3D has a little better performance than the 7800X3D which is good because the 7800X3D is very hard to come by and getting pricey. Ryzen 9800X3D and 9950X3D gaming and Cinebench benchmarks!!! |

Looks like Zen 5 was a hard reset with a whole new design on roughly the same node with an extreme focus on density improvements.
They added quite a bit more capability and drastically reduced the physical size of the cache in the CCD to keep it roughly the same size as a Zen4 CCD and keeping power consumption about the same or a bit less in some cases. Same IOD, so no big updates or improvements to power/performance from there. They obviously need to move to a new node to get a substantial PPA increase, N4P for the IOD will likely be the last with some scaling and N3(P) for the CCD, while also getting some low hanging fruit from the new design. Intel had to reset as well this generation... removing SMT to save ~50w off their ~300w 14900k. But the funny part is, they said they focused on lowering power consumption this generation so the had more headroom in the future, implying they will need it to have noticeable performance increases. |
