|
|
Can I get in on General spot since the Texas Newby roster is full?
Never done a Cola Warrior, but multiple WTF biathlons. If so, please put me down. |
|
|
I'll downgrade to Standby if you'll give my spot to a noob. I've suffered plenty, and will be happy to watch others suffer in my place.

A little clarification for the new guys. The different classes really are not different. Everyone runs the exact same course and is timed the same. Combat means you carry a bunch of stuff. Night is obvious.
Specialty classes are mostly for pushing yourself harder and bragging rights. There are no bonus points at Cola, only penalties. For example, I do my run in a made up by me “Geriatric Class” I’m timed the same as everyone else. One advantage, it is easier for me to earn penalties. |

I'm not running combat, I'm old and frail.
ETA: I see that we're getting a LOT of new runners. If you need to, you can move me to a standby slot so that |

I googled “cola warrior gear” and got crap for results. “A” pistol and two mags means to me that I need the equivalent of a service pistol, holster, and probably a mag holder. I can cover that.
“A” rifle has me a little more perplexed. What distances? Do I need to hit targets with authority, or do I just need to ring steel? LVPO, red dot, or the trusty Yugo with irons? |

I recommend something AR pattern that takes standard magazines. But I've seen people clear it with really dumb stuff. I've also seen people with really nice gear failed to clear it. So try not to suck. |

I believe the spirit of Cola Warrior is learn and better ourselves any way we can. I hope that is still the case for us old and/or broken folks. Take the obstacle penalties. Learn the AK, with practice you can do the AK and shove Peeps in your in a couple minutes. Take a ride to the range. If you can shoot and get a few sodas down you won’t be last. When you are done you will feel a lot better about yourself. @VacaDuck |

So I take it from that comment that the course of fire is unknown and that one needs to roll with what one brings. To be clear, with the penalties I know I’m going to incur I’m going to be low on the totem pole. I’m fine with that. I’d like to have my equipment at least reasonable for the task at hand—that’s all. How long do I have to ameliorate the beer gut? You know, because my equipment is what’s holding me back. |

How long do I have to ameliorate the beer gut? You know, because my equipment is what’s holding me back. Bring a rifle with magnification, and a pistol with a red dot. Show up with reliable guns and your optics zerod and know your holds to 500, or 700 if it’s Keystone. If you do that, failure to clear the range is 100% on the shooter. You shouldn’t need your second magazine. |

View Quote My understanding is that the rifle range should be able to be cleared by someone proficient using iron sights. It has been done. Your choice of optics is up to you. |
