Job #1. Full time gig. They are very happy of the 3% raise we just got. But I got a $3 pay cut earlier in the year. So yea. It kinda sucks.
Job #2. Part time gig. Doing bail bonds recovery at my best friends place. Had safety issues that made me walk away from my best friend. Powder related. Job #3. Watching my coworker get absolutely fucked over by management. She got hurt on the job and spent days on the ICU. Management is now building a case against her. For no reason. They are interviewing people about her and sharing her medical info with us. Management is really fucking stupid at all jobs. Kinda wish I could walk away from the workforce for a bit. |

It's pretty fucked right now.
Company's fer sale - 4th generation owners - thier kids need bmw's. It's not just fucking Stellantis (everyday the outsourcing of pcb board design and software to India is costing them millions upon millions in mistakes). GM & Ford also over committed to the near future of EV. At least the union operators still continue to shine with beaming optimism - and that hard work ethic which they totally embrace. |

The economy seems to have hit the brakes again recently and we’re having trouble keeping crews busy enough to retain them. We’ve lost several in the last two months. Last month saw a sharp drop in sales nationwide. Potential customers are hanging onto their money they might previously have used for discretionary spending. Now the lack of manpower is starting to cause extra stress for the rest of the company, and it’s going to get worse when the lull in new work hits once we burn through the remaining backlog.
I think that, at least in part, people (corporations) are waiting to see how the election turns out before spending any extra money. |

I’m guessing many are tired of the price of groceries doubling or tripling but pay remaining relatively unchanged in the last few years. I know that is my issue. I went from what I thought was a great job to one that just keeps my family afloat in the course of a few years. Hard to stay positive..

The work itself is good and I work with a great bunch of guys. Problems are coming from middle management attempting to micromanage and fix what ain't broke, and it sent morale into the toilet.

My job is finally over the original stress it was 2 years ago. I also reached my 20 years point. They can't fire me they have to retire me.
Also the people in my small group are helpful and don't set me up for failure. First group seemed to wait for the right time to stick a knife in my back. Also with my work the more I complete the programs on computer. |

Hard to have life in your eyes when you're urgently aware you could be the next head to roll.
I think the heart of today's problem is that current crop of business leaders: A. Wasn't properly mentored in leadership or management by the previous generation. B. Came of (business) age during the heady 90s and yearns to recreate those times. C. Has been dealt a wild ass set of market circumstances, including rare shit like a pandemic and the end of a societal cycle (Bretton Wood/Pax Americana), even unprecedented circumstances like the beginning of demographic decline. Nobody in charge knows what they're doing, and you almost can't blame them. |

Here in Sweden, they have tradition of fikas, which are 30 minute coffee breaks during the day. Employees get together for coffee and some snacks and shoot the shit. There's no work talk. It's intended to help bond teams together.
Even my wife, who works for the US embassy, partakes with the embassy staff, Americans and Swedes. They love it. Supposedly, firms that have fikas have 12% turnover vs 40% that don't have it. |

I’m seeing increased worker dissatisfaction due to workers being cut and the workload increasing on the remainder. That works for a little bit, but eventually burnout sets in and people check out.

Mines going great. I cashed in a decade worth of hard earned favors to get myself moved cross country to the place I wanted to be. Cost of living is down, net income is up. I also went from managing a team of nerds to just doing the nerd stuff I enjoy. More fun, less stress.
Not working overtime (after years of 60 hour weeks). Finally using my weekends for hobbies and PTO to travel. Life is good.
