Backstory...

While Wynonna Judd maintained her popular singing stature throughout the 2000s with several top selling albums, one fateful night in November 2003 would see Wynonna Judd make headlines for a whole different reason.

On November 13, in the early hours of the morning, police witnessed Wynonna Judd's Land Rover traveling at 47 miles per hour in a 30 zone before deciding to pull the vehicle over. After the Land Rover was stopped not far from Music Row in Nashville, Tennessee, police noted that Judd smelled of alcohol and that her pupils appeared to be dilated. At the time, Wynonna Judd said she could not remember how many drinks she had consumed that night, but after Judd consented to a breath test, it was revealed that the country music singer had a blood-alcohol level of 0.175, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08. Judd posted the standard $500 bond and was promptly released.

Wynonna Judd pleaded guilty to the charge of driving under the influence in December 2003, and was sentenced to 11 months and 29 days in jail, though the sentence was suspended to an equal amount of time on probation. Wynonna Judd lost her driver's license for one year, performed 200 hours of community service and paid roughly $1,000 in court fees for her drunk driving incident. It was around the same time that Wynonna appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show to announced she had a 'severe' dependency to food. After years of combating the issue, Wynonna lost some of the weight and began releasing new albums in the country music world, with releases in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

The eldest daughter of popular country singer Naomi Judd, and the half-sister of actress Ashley Judd, Wynonna Judd (born Christina Claire Ciminella) made a name for herself when she burst onto the music scene in 1992 with her self-titled debut. After being certified 5x Platinum, Wynonna Judd went on to release several other albums throughout the 90s, which earned her star status in the music industry.

Though Wynonna Judd has recorded 20 #1 singles, multiple gold and platinum albums and scored several Grammy awards, the drinking and driving incident did tarnish her reputation for some time. However, Wynonna Judd found her name in the headlines for a much different reason in March 2007 after her husband, D.R. Roach was arrested for sexually assaulting a child under the age of 13. Wynonna Judd quickly filed for divorce on March 27, 2007, and has distanced herself from her husband ever since.
