USN 2006-2010
Aug-Oct '06: Basic at Great Lakes, IL. Went in as an E-1. RDC promised to award me E-2 if I handled starboard watch, then at the end he gave the promotion to some fat kid who passed the final PT test Oct '06 - Jan '07: Master at Arms A school in San Antionio, Lakland AFB, TX Jan-Feb '07: Various training for detention ops. Gulfport, MS; Ft. Lewis, WA; got stranded from snow in Offutt Nebraska one night. I'll never forget the morning take-off from Offutt on a snow covered runway with the sunrise; beautiful sight. Forced cell extraction training was awesome Feb '07 - Mar '08: Guantanamo Bay, detention ops, got a NAM for it. Mar '08 - Feb '10: Sasebo, Japan, base security. Made E-4. Put in early-out paperwork for college. Once my command found out that I wanted to get out, I became a "poison to my shipmates," as they said, and they tried hammering me for SOMEONE ELSE going to work drunk. I wrote the base CO a letter and he gave me an honorable discharge but reduced me to E-3 with an RE4 code so I couldn't go reserves or anything. Feb-Mar '10: Bangor, WA for outprocessing. |

U.S. Marine Corps Reserve (IRR) 2006-present
Sergeant (E-5), 5811 (Military Policeman) Boot Camp, MCRD San Diego CA, graduated as company scribe (setting a mildly amusing precedent) on 17 Nov. 2006 MCT, SOI, Camp Pendleton CA, graduated as scribe on 17 Dec. 2006. Military Police School, Ft. Leonard Wood MO, graduated as scribe and Honor Graduate on 11 Apr. 2007. MWSS-473, Det. A, Fresno CA, mobilized for OIF in Jun.-Dec. 2007 but wound up not deploying, so I spent the mobilization giving toys to needy kids in Fresno. 4th LSB, Ft. Lewis WA, Feb. 2009, Armory Custodian (eventually Armory NCO). BALTOPS-10, Ventspils, Latvia, May-June 2010, Force Protection Platoon (gate guard/mosquito bait). Corporals' Course, Davis-Montham Air Force Base, Tucson AZ, graduated as scribe and Honor Graduate in June 2011 (and missed the Gung Ho award by one vote). MCE-K (MARCENT Coordination Element-Kuwait), Ali Al Salem Air Base, Kuwait, Sept. 2011-May 2012, volunteered to deploy as an individual augment; served as a driver, liaison, and Transportation NCO. MCE-A (MARCENT Coordination Element-Afghanistan), North Kabul Area International Airport, Kabul Afghanistan, Aug. 2012-May 2013, volunteered to deploy as an individual augment; served as lead PSD driver, liaison/edpediter, Supply NCO, Training NCO, and Unofficial Morale Officer (no seriously, it was in my signature block). CLB-23, Joint Base Lewis-McChord WA, May-Aug. 2013, Armory NCO. MCIRSA (Marine Corps Individual Reserve Support Activity), dropped to the IRR in Aug. 2013. Re-enlistment package pending. I just need an up-to-date PFT/CFT to finish my package. I'll stay in the IRR, but I'm not going back to CLB-23. |

Don't wish to elaborate much. Dad was going through basic when the Germans surrendered. His dad died in England in service in 1944. All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.
It is better to be thought a fool and remain silent, than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt. |
I should introduce myself.
US Army: Active Duty 1985-89, Schofield Barracks: 1st BN 14th Inf, Chaplain Assistant. Later transferred to 1st BN 21st Inf, then to Garrison. Transferred stateside to the Presidio of San Francisco for medical attention to my son. Generally an undistinguished career. ARCOM, AAM, GCM, Commander's Community Service Award. Team Spirit 86 was my own personal mudhole. Spent 4 years Inactive Reserve (because the guy in the Ohio NG office kept asking the MSG trying to get me hitched up if he was gay because he was in San Francisco). Completed Masters Degrees. Spent 2 years National Guard, served on the staff of the National Guard Professional Education Center. Deployed to Ft. Hood, Ft. Irwin, Ft. Polk. Have 3 whole stripes. Always shot Expert. Graduated from the Chaplains School when it was located at Ft. Monmouth. Part of the reason my career was so undistinguished was after a few months in the service, someone noticed I could type and was well educated: from there a LTC took me away from a MAJ. Then a COL took me away from him. I ended my days following a MG around. Then I worked as a contractor located at Soldier Systems Center, Natick, MA. Now I am tired/retired. |

USAF, 1974-1996, retired at MSgt
All spent in USAFSS, ESC, AFIC, AIA with a stint in ATC (I don't know who I pissed off to get that sentence) Cryptologic Linguist (don't ask, so I won't have to shoot you.) Unlike many career people, I had very few duty stations, I kept going back and forth - Offutt AFB, Goodfellow AFB, Hahn AB GE, as well as some time with the Army at Presidio of Monterrey. Mostly a Cold War warrior, spent some time in Riyadh for Operation Southern Watch. |

0621/0622, I was a radio guy in a artillery regiment. Went to boot camp at lovely Parris Island, then my MOS school in great 29 Palms. At least I was stationed in Camp Pendleton, which is actually nice, seriously. |

I did 26 years active Army. 11.5 years as an enlisted Infantryman (Airborne, Motorized, Mechanized, and Light). I got tired of walking and put my WO packet in. I spent 15 years as a scout pilot (OH-58A/C and OH-58D) in Cavalry units. I retired because I couldn't pass a Class II flight physical after 2 lower back surgeries.
