Another happy BCM Customer!!
It is a BCM 14.5" lightweight midlength upper reciever group. While I was at it I picked up a BCM BCG and standard charging handle as well. Running a Spike's ST-T2 Buffer.
I wanted a 12" rail, but also wanted the lightweight barrel. So I opted for the Midwest Industries Rifle Length 2 piece free float rail. I've had one of these rails before, and love it. Solid, inexpensive and super easy install ie no barrel removal needed.
Since I haven't seen a weight on these, I decided to weigh it. As shown, 2 lbs. 9 oz.
Everything chopped off that I didn't need anymore. Since the PWS was welded on, I couldn't put a lo pro gas block on, so I shaved the one that came from BCM.
Here she is with all her toys. As shown, 7 lbs 9 oz. with EMPTY PMag.
Just got home from a local CQB AR15 Match. Put on by CFDCC.org. Basically an IPDA but with rifles. Lots of fun.
The gun's performance: Much better than what I can do. The BCM was super accurate and my follow up shots were better than ever. I was running a Spike's ST-2 buffer, super reliable, and super smooth! Everyone was commenting how the gun was not moving even during courses of rapid fire.
Because of the light weight profile, the gun was much more maneuverable. I didn't feel like I was lugging it around, rather was just slicing through the air running from target to target. I was afraid of the light weight being more to handle, but it yielded the same results as before with my other custom built 14.5" middy that was a gov't profile.
Pics only. I used a buddy's camera so I have to wait for him to upload them for me.
Videos, short but you get the point.
