I have thought about buying the cheapest completed Mk 2 upper that I could get just so I could strip it out for the upper receiver.

Can anyone confirm the MK2 receiver is compatible with Magpul's Enhanced Ejection Port Cover?

I emailed them yesterday and got a BS canned response about using the notify function on out of stock items.

I've pretty much given up on a stripped MK2 receiver, its a bit cheaper to get a Forward Controls Design Low Drag Forward Assist.

Any idea if these Mk2 uppers will work with a Daniel Defense RIS II?

Any of Geissele's rails that have the anti-rotation lugs (e.g., the USASOC contract MK16 rails) also do not fit for the same reason. |

It took me maybe 10 minutes to file and fit an Icon Drivelock (SOLGW M89 rail) to my MK2 upper. Perfect fit now with absolutely zero rotation potential. I wish they would just sell them with the disclaimer that they may not fit certain handguards. |

can I ask a dumb question about these?
I am watching an MK2 upper from BCM right now but just had some questions cuz I know the upper receiver is slightly proprietary. outside of beefing it up in area and shifting the forward assist a bit, is there anything else proprietary on it? Will it fit on a regular BCM milspec lower or does it need one of their "MK2" labeled lowers? Also, does it accept regular raptor or mil-spec charging handles, or is their MK2 charging handle "meant for it" ?? (I know that there's some weird spacing for gasses up near the charging handle from what I read, so I didn't know if I could just toss it on a BCM lower and slap in a rapter and be good, or if it needed proprietary parts that I wasn't aware of) |
|
|
The BCM MK2 upper works on any Milspec lower, and any standard charging handles and forward assists fit it as well. Dust covers have to be Milspec, no polymer dust covers work in my experience.

There's no such thing. My MK2 URG is on a regular mil-spec BCM lower and works fine. I also run the older-style (pre-MK2) charging handle on mine, as the MK2 charging handle wasn't around at the time I bought my upper. |

"MK2" lower to me implies an entirely different lower forging, e.g. an ambidextrous lower of some kind. What (I think) you're referring to is basically just the same forged lower that they've sold for years, albeit with a new RMS. |

I know they made a few minor proprietary changes to it and just wanted to be the guy who checked first before assuming it was nothing more than cosmetic/structural changes that didn't affect compatibility. |

tacswap has a MK2 upper receiver taking off form an upper for $250

I remember when BCM was selling them for $130, back when I got my MK2 URG (December 2019, right when they first came out). One of the big selling points of the MK2 over similar competing upper receivers of the time (such as Vltor's MUR or Noveske's 3rd/4th Gen uppers) was the fact that it didn't cost much more than the regular mil-spec upper. I guess that scarcity drives up prices, but that's still kinda hard to justify. $250 is only $50 less than what the Noveske Gen 4 stripped uppers cost. |

Hey BCM, it’s me again. I would like some stripped Mk2 uppers please. Thanks!

If anyone is still wondering...BCM MK2 Upper does not fit the Magpul enhanced ejection port cover (and several other after market/non-milspec covers). Not only that....but once you remove the factory cover (bar must be bent a little)....you cannot put a milspec one back in without removing the rail AND the barrel nut. Ask me how I know :-)
I have no desire to mess around with removing/re-installing barrel nuts....so back to standard upper for me. |

View Quote Yeah, unfortunately, it's become clear since the launch of those receivers (4+ years ago now) that BCM really over-sold the "the MK2 is compatible with anything made for a USGI upper" narrative. That may have been one of their original design goals, but it seems that it didn't work out as they planned. I suspect that this is also the real reason that stripped MK2 uppers are no longer widely available - BCM is afraid of continued backlash from customers who buy the MKs expecting them to be compatible with rails and other accessories that they own, and then finding out they're not. |

I had reached out to their customer service a month ago, and they told me it was because of “supply chain issues” and that all the MK2 uppers they are producing are being used on complete uppers. Thankfully the upper I wanted came back in stock so I jumped on it. |

What BCM told you is probably true, but I doubt it's the only reason, or even the main reason, that MK2s aren't sold solo anymore. Don't you think it's kinda odd that this "supply chain issue" has been ongoing for over three years now? |

They hardly ever have MK2 uppers in stock. That makes me wonder if they are having money troubles.

Originally Posted By EzGoingKev: They hardly ever have MK2 uppers in stock. That makes me wonder if they are having money troubles. View Quote Perhaps. Not really sure. But they've launched a bunch of new products in the past year. We'll see if they have the same issues keeping those products in stock. As it stands now, the MK2 seems to be BCM's only product that isn't sold as standalone. |

Still waiting, not on the edge of my chair, nor will I buy a complete upper as they don't offer the configuration I would want nor would I want to pull one apart after the horror stories I've heard about that.
But, if I ever got the opportunity to grab a stripped MK2 upper, I would. |
