 From the Biggerhammer site. The "C" is Colt, and the "AF" is Alcoa Forge. Apparently the plain "AF" is Bushmaster. www.biggerhammer.net/ar15/uppers/ |

The "AF" is the mark of Alcoa Forge.
The splintered "A" is Anchor Forge. I've yet to see a CMT A3 Upper Receiver without this "A" mark.  HS1 |

I have. Both of my flat top uppers; sold as being made by CMT, are minus any forge mark. Others have posted the same comment. I suppose it's posssible that the dealers I bought them from sold me an off brand, but they are two of the highest profile folks on this site, and I would certainly hope that they wouldn't pull something of that sort.

I have never seen an "AF" forge mark like the one in your pic. The info I post is from Chris Bartocci's book, "Black Rifle II", p296. The flat top Bushmaster rifles I have do not have any markings on the upper, but they are about 5 years old now. Email Bushmaster and ask them if your A2 upper is theirs and who made the raw forging.
