My new Stag Arms rifle has an un shrouded(firing pin area) bolt carrier? What are the repercussion's of this, if any? Thanks.

The only thing is the rear of the firing pin gets hit constantly when the hammer is recocked instead of the carrier hiting and cocking the hammer. You cant use the large collar M16 firing pin as it will take a beating sometimes resulting in a bent retaining pin.I like using shrouded FA carriers and un notched hammers per the original design...semi-auto of course on the hammer.

The shrouded carriers though are the norm now I didnt think un shrouded carriers were still being used.I have a source localy for full-auto hammers machined to semi-auto standard as I ordered an un notched hammer from stag..specified it and they even show a picture of one on the web site on the parts list and I still got a notched one.
