Pic request: 14.5" barrels w/12" railed handguards
|
|
To those who own these guns, How does it handle? Is it nose heavy? The VFG farther ahead add to stability when shooting?
What's a good brand rail I should look at? Are they all mono top rail? If you sbr'd it could a suppressor fit inside the rail l? Thanks. |
|
Mine (above) is front heavy because it has a SOCOM-profile barrel. With a lightweight barrel, this should be drastically reduced. Further, choosing a light rail helps (e.g., KAC URX II/III, DD Lite, Troy TRX).

Just what I wanted to know. I'm doing a 14.5" using a DD Lightweight barrel; its Midlength gas, so I was wondering if I used a 12" rail to cover the gas block, if it would un-balance the rifle.

I'd like to add this question, since it's a 14.5 inch barrel; that means the flash hider has to be permanently attached correct?
Thank you |

One more question, and I appreciate your patience with these pretty basic questions. Having the permanently attached FH is not considered a big deal? I guess the only time it would make any difference would be if you planned on attaching a suppressor? |
|
So, do you guys think 14.5" barrel + 12" handguard is the new best configuration? Can you see any negatives to going with this layout?

I'm considering ditching my lite rails for this option. MUCH lighter and really does anyone need all that rail space? I can get pics if you are interested. |

Here is one I did for my B-i-l.

Noveske Afghan with Larue 12.0 http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h305/jgeiken/2011-06-25_19-17-28_755.jpg Awesome rifle. What scope it that? Does it have magnifications. I guess what I am asking is it greater than 1x magnification? |

To me, no. To you, maybe. What are the needs? And I think you'll have an issue with a <16" rifle barrel in California. |

ETA: Who fluted your N6 barrel? Looks like a thunder cat (sabre) barrel ? ? ? Hey buddy, That's a FACTORY FLUTED Noveske barrel. Pretty rare and pretty expensive. SCAR in mind is more of a battle rifle and the N6 is more a precision auto. Just my .02 |
