Where to buy some Blem KAC 11 RIB handguard panels and different sizes in Taupe?
|
|
Taupe only comes in 11 rib length.
Have never seem any "blem" KAC rail panels. |
|
Thanks, anybody else where to buy KAC Bem Taupe 11rib rail covers?

Trying so save money when they cost $25.00 a cover and I would like about 8 -10 of them for two different M4's.
|
|
No official "blem" rail covers. Taupe ones are hard to find used. Also, king optic USA and operation parts both sell taupe covers in different sizes.
|
|
The only taupe panels I have ever seen have been $25 new, or $30 used on gunbroker or the EE.
You might just want to get some black ones painted. |
|
I have a box full of Blk KAC rail cover. I want to do a M4A1 14.5 & MK18 Mod1 on the same SBR lower using all TAN MAGPUL grip,Tan LMT SOPMOD,Taupe KAC rail covers and Tan TangoDown grip. Blk and earth tan color M4 SBR without using paint and wan't wearoff with Hard use.

I have seen multiple rifles in the Mk 18 thread that had different sized KAC taupe rail covers. Now about actually finding some.... *ETA: Pic http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c99/BurtSaun/013.jpg Those appear cut, no? |

At least when I cut mine down or for others I try to round the corners to "look" like factory. Plus the one on the front bottom doesn't have the clip, is KAC selling them like that now? |

Sadly KAC has the market cornered on taupe panels, unless you know someone with a taupe SR15 or SR25 that wants to sell theirs. There may be clone copies out there, but I haven't researched it enough. |

I'll bet ya the different length panels are a recent addition with the KAC Taupe SR15. Previously the Taupe and Green panels just came in 11 rib length.

I feel like KAC has had the market on a lot of stuff, but it seems like they never get it (or they're getting so fat off the gov't contracts they just don't care). Their URX rails, BUIS's, and rail covers are the absolute best in their respective categories, IMO. If they dropped the price on the rail covers a bit and made it easier/cheaper to install the URX rails everybody would want them. |

Its good to see KAC is selling them in different lengths. I still prefer to paint mine, and since all my guns are safe queens they'll never get worn. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

I did buy some panels that are not taupe but very light in color, like light desert sand. There was a member here that offered them for sale, they were only available in 11 rib length. http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i314/Duffypoo/DSC_0099_Large_.jpg They've all been painted over by now Like these? Tan |

Yep, you kept yours as is, Mike? I couldn't stomach that awful color, I made it dirty by wiping my shooting gloves on it to darken the color a little, but when I got hit with spray can sickness, I painted all of them

I feel like if KAC made all white rail covers at a reduced price that people could dye whatever color they wanted, they would sell like hotcakes.

The only way to get KAC gear at reduced prices is to get them used (legitimate, non-stolen government property), or if you have connections to a dealer.
Far be it for me to poke fun at kAC, I love their products. They can command the price because they'll get it. |

I can't say I blame them either; it's economics 101––if people will pay it, charge it. |

You can buy black panels all day long, just get some paint spray paint them. Much more versatile, the black panels are cheap and easy to find, that's the way I'd do it. But then I paint everything (except for the NOD and PEQ-15 which is already tan in color) The black items on this weapon haven't been painted because they're new additions, there's no point in painting the muzzle brake. http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i314/Duffypoo/MRP.jpg Oh trust me, Duffy, I've seen your painted goodies before. I still am not sure I've seen anyone do a better woodland camo than you had on that SBR and M1A. They're saved on my computer they're so good. |

I need a taupe 11 rib panel, but until I break down and pay $25 for one, I'm just gonna do without.

Any specific technique you use? I know they're just spray painted, but perhaps you have some expert tips to push me over the edge toward spraying mine down. |

Same things as others have done
Dark colors first, desert tan last, then lift the can further away and give the whole thing a slight spray to give it a blended look |

No offense meant, of course - just ribbin' ya! ~Augee Got me Now how the hell did I manage that |

When you guys are painting them, how do you remove the locking mechanism?
|
|
Not me, I ain't painting for artistic reasons
Garden variety paint is going to wear and peel. the spring clip is a part that gets bent with use. If you want to be meticulous, spend the extra time on covering up the scope lenses and turrets that will benefit from careful masking |

When you guys are painting them, how do you remove the locking mechanism? It pops out from one side by just pushing it with a small flat bladed screwdriver from the bottom, and them lifts out the other side and up. Installing: just push one side in and down, then hook the clip tab with the same small screwdriver and pull it out while pushing the end into the hole. If you mess it up just pop it out, rebend it, and try again. |
