Well I've just put in the order for a 14.5" Middy with a permattached MB556K at Bravo Company

To held tide me over while I impatiently wait for it to arrive I was hoping some of you gents would share your 16" or 14.5" mid-length builds. I'm also looking for suggestions on rail systems. I've got a a KAC RAS and CASV-EL in my misc. drawer but I don't have anything to fit a middy. I'll probably used a magpul mid-length handguard for now, but I'd like to upgrade soon.

Not sure why the picture makes the furniture as light as it appears... in reality its much closer to the color of the magazine.

You'll have to get something that you can put on with out removing the front sight post since you are perm. attaching the muzzle device.  Just FYI.

BCM BFH 14.5" Middy with LMT Rear Iron and Miculek Brake.. no frills and 1400+ rounds (steel and all)..

Suggest a Troy VTAC Alpha (its cheaper then the std. Troy Alpha) in 13" flavor..

-what he said

Personally I'd get the 16" (or the 14.5 with a GI flash hider I could sacrifice later with not much lost cost) until I decided just exactly what I wanted to do with it then have ADCO cut it down for me...making sure the threads were concentric.

14.5" BCM Hammer Forged Midlength A2X Flash Hider
BCM BCG
BCM Gunfighter Charging Handle Mod 4
MI Midlength gen 2 Drop In
Inforce Weapon Mounted Light
Magpul MBUS Rear
Magpul RVG

Has about 200 rounds through it so far, flawless, great weapon. As for a rail suggestion all I had before were the stock double heat shield handguards but my midwest industries gen 2 drop in quad rail is a little over 3 oz lighter than competitors and MIs customer service is outstanding. At 129.99 with LEO discount, you really cant beat it.

always happy to post a pic

BCM 14.5 LW mid, perm a2x, and Rainier EVO rail.
the permanent mount on the FH allowed me to use my dremel skills on the FSB. the delta ring and springs were removed by the previous owner. 100% reliable with every ammo I've thrown at it. WAY more accurate than I am.

There is another thread that is a photo thread of nothing but Mids. As for a rail, I ordered my mid from Spikes and after a 5 month wait I was finally rewarded with a awesome rifle and one of the first SAR rifles to leave the shop. I don't know which I like better the SAR or BAR they are both awesome rails. I have tried almost all the others, if I had to choose to keep only one it would be the SAR. To be honest with you if I would have tried the Magpul  handguards I may have not spent all the money that I on rails.  You can buy short sections of rail and mount these in the slots on the handguards. They also make sling mounts, flashlight etc...... You may want to order the Magpul first and see how you like it.

I tried to order a 14'5" hammer forged middy with a 9" DD lite rail and they said they would not do it.

No, but they offer a wide enough variety of configurations that usually something close to what a person is seeking can be found. Providing we aren't in the middle of a AR dry spell that is....

I like this setup very much. OP, you could do much worse than cloning this.

I'm a big fan of the Centurion C4 rails. In fact, the next rifle I want to build is a 14.5 middy with a C4 cutout. Only thing is idk why they charge $60-80 more for 2" more material compared to the carbine rail.

More expensive to manufacture.

I understand the concept. My point being that I feel that is too much of a mark up, IMO. The Troy Bravo has a $20 difference between the 7.2" and the 11" rails. That's pretty reasonable. Hard to justify a $60 difference for 2" more of rail. That's all I'm getting at. They already have the CNC program set up and I doubt 2" more of AL stock costs that much.

Well, it's not the most flattering picture, and it's not in its' final configuration, but it's shootable! I've got a magpul handguard on the way, I want to eventually get decent rails (looking at Knights Armament 12.5" URX III or maybe Troy Ind. 13" Alpha Battle Rail), either a SOPMOD or STR stock, and some other things. It's a work in progress

Bipod is still on because I was coyote hunting off my dad's porch and was too lazy to pull it off. Top is a 14.5 w/BC and the bottom is a 16.

I got my upper about a year ago.  14.5 inch LW barrel with an extended A2 FH.  The weapon run everything I have used.  I have it mounted using an old A1 stock and it shoots smoothly and with negligible recoil.   I have two .   One is the front sight is canted.  When used with my Weaver 1x3, the cant is very noticeable.  With the H1 and EOtech, makes no difference  The other is the feed ramp on the barrel extension.  Instead of being one continuous face from the M4 cut and the extension, there is a strange hump/gap.  It is smooth though and has never caused a problem in any way.  Just unusual!

I love the FSB cut out rails.  I have the Daniel Defense mid length version, but the Centurion may go on my next upper that I decide to free float.

If I had to do it over again, I'd choose to replace the forearm with a lighter, and narrower one. See link.

BUT! Your gun just has a a light. MY gun has a star beside BCM! Obviously, mine is better.

And, my photoshopping skills are better. (Original photo below) I have come to the conclsuion that the right contrast, shadows, lighting, saturation, ect. on a picture will make or break a gun picture. (Not knocking you couch, table, and carpet photographers)

On a serious note, when did you build that gun? I distinctly remember you complementing me on that setup (as plain and KISS as it is) 3 or 4 months ago in one of the other pic threads.
