I've seen many of the DD M4A1 RIS II setups on 16" carbine and mid-length ARs. A friend of mine has the M4A1 RIS II on his 16" mid-length, was thinking about going with a MK18 RIS II on a carbine-gas system to save weight while still covering gas block. Haven't seen but a few pics of this setup, and those didn't really give me a good idea of what it looks like. So this pic request is of a 16" carbine-gas system with a DD MK18 RIS II installed (preferably black).

Thanks!

Thanks, ThePitt! Are there any more pics of this rifle from different angles/perspectives?

Damn that looks nice, but I wonder how a 16" would look.

It was his brother-in-law. Posted on page 500 of the block 2 thread, not my pic.

I love everything about my Block II SOPMOD rifle, except the weight.  Ive been contemplating swapping to the shorter rail myself.  Just waiting for one to pop up in the EE.

Here is mine.  But I am changing out the rail for the longer RIS II as soon as it arrives.

Thanks! Didn't know this existed. Here's some pics of how I plan for it to turn out. DD RIS II Mk18 rail, Vltor IMod stock, Tango Down pistol grip, Surefire 952V light, Aimpoint CompM3 red dot, Troy folding sights. Looks better than I thought it would with the shorter rail. I had a 13" Troy rail system on a previous AR that I built that was nice, but I honestly never found a use for that extra real estate near the end of the rail. A 10" rail is prob adequate for my uses, plus its inherently lighter and less bulky. For me, 5.56mm AR's are 300m and under guns - if I want to shoot farther, I'd rather use a .308 or larger caliber rifle with a 2.5-10, 3-9 or 4-10 power optic. So I prefer to have AR's setup lightweight and simple - which is how I setup the AR pictured below:

EDIT: I forgot to save this file before exiting the program, so these are the only pics I have. Also, I couldn't find a remote switch for the Surefire in the program - this would be mounted on the left (from users perspective) side of the rail system, at the rear of the rail.
