I am using the Ergo Deluxe Suregrip on most of my ARs.
People with small hands tend to not like it.

I like the Magpul MIAD.  It has different front and back straps of different thickness and styles to customize it to fit your hand and shooting style.

I've always used a MIAD, but with my big hands and Timney trigger, I was a bit cramped up on the bench with my .308, even with the largest back strap, so I looked for something deeper, and went with the ATI X2 Scorpion grip.

I like the LaRue APEG for a gun I'm shooting prone or off a bench,  All my other AR's have a more vertical grip on them.

All my precision AR pattern rifles have Larue Apegs. Awesome contour with your choice of rough or smoother texturing. Great grip that's very comfortable.

Old-school bad ass right there, but I'll put my vote in for the Ergo Tactical Deluxe w/ Palm shelf. That's what I'm using in my 24" precision rifle.

It's wearing the original Bushmaster (DPMS Panther) grip in the photo, but I've since upgraded to the Ergo (visually almost identicle) for the suregrip rubberized coating.

Old school Sierra Precision. Normally I don't like fat grips, but this one works for me.

I have small hands, but still use this grip for my prone gun. Places my trigger finger perfectly on the pad.

Depends on my trigger -- if I have a light trigger then a fat grip works fine; else, for stock triggers I prefer the stock grips.

One more vote for the Ergo Deluxe, I really like mine.

A2 grip, last week I got a couple Ruger Elite triggers(I don't recommend them BTW) so I replaced the A2 with the included Ruger grip. Don't notice a bit of difference between the two shooting prone, unsupported or with the sling.

I've had a LaRue APEG and a Sierra Precision on precision oriented guns.

If it's just going to be a bench gun or you have really large hands, go Sierra Precision.

If you have smaller hands and especially if this gun is going to do more than just shoot at a bench or prone, I'd try out the APEG.

Good news is that they're all relatively inexpensive and easy to switch out until you find something you like and gets your trigger finger in the right place.

Where did you find one that's flush with the back of the receiver?  Mine sticks out a noticeable amount.

Tubb Precision makes a grip similar to the Sierra grip, but they also make one that's smaller.

Believe it or not, but you dont want a lot of contact with the trigger hand grip when precision shooting.  Good consistent shoulder contact, but not a lot of grip contact.  Consistency yes, but not a lot of contact.

Pistols are another matter.

You are right.  Absolutely.  If shooting at bench, you actually want the rifle to slide rearward in the bags.  Many actually put a sheet of wax paper between each bag and the rifle to facilitate that.  Pressure is only on the trigger, if you can.

Obviously, in the field conditions change and you do need to use the grip.  But even then for precision shooting, you want as little as possible contact with anything except your shoulder and your trigger finger to obtain consistent placement and straight rearward movement of the trigger. The grip should only be a means by which you control accurate placement of the trigger finger.  I'm not expert, but I know that much.  The less pressure and contact I have with the grip while maintaining trigger discipline, the tighter my groups have become.

At my very amateurish level, I find that a grip with a single A2 type finger shelf gives me a constant reference point for consistent vertical hand placement on the grip.  Once in position, the alignment of my trigger finger to the trigger is consistent.  I need all the "crutches" I can get.

I too love the Ergo Deluxe grip, and I have small hands. It isn't currently in use because I mostly have clone rifles, but for an SPR or DMR, it's great. It works great for pew pew stuff as well, I never found it too fat.

MIAD.

But I use the same grips regardless of the "type of rifle"

Not trying to pick a fight, but I was just reading  up some info from Todd Hodnett from Accuracy First.  He was saying the  found that while you don't want to squeeze the grip on a bolt action precision gun, semiautos are opposite. They get better results with a relatively firm grip on AR style platforms.  Best guess is that it's due to the reciprocating mass during the shot, but either way you don't argue with results.

Just do what works best for you on the gun you're shooting (ie, don't expect each gun you have to perform best by handling it the same way).  The truth is in the bullet strike.

I like the Sierra SPR and LaRue Tactical APEG grips. I use the SPR on my Mk12 Mod 0 and the APEG on my latest RECCE build.

Same here, A-PEG on the rifle I shoot paper with mostly, but BCM Mod 2's on everything else.
