Can anyone ID the upper the New Zealand Armed forces are now using?  Thanks!

I'm fairly sure it's the CQB MRP upper with a 16" barrel.

It's definitely the CQB MRP...
When you look at the barrel, if you can see the gas block prodtuding forward of the rail: 16 inch barrel with mid length gas tube.
If you don't see the gas block: 14.5 inch barrel with carbine length gas tube.

I've only seen promo pics, not actual pics of the rifle fielded, so at this point I can't tell what barrel length they will use.
The promo pics I see show a 16 inch barrel, but they look like pictures taken from LMT's website.

14.5 inch barrel - Carbine length gas block sits under the rail:

16 inch barrel - Gas block is visible, mid length gas system:

The barrel looks different, like it has a sleeve on it or something.

Can you post a link or a pic?  Nothing comes up in a Google search.

CQB MRP, 16 inch mid length gas system with a Surefire Warcomp FH.
LMT makes that rail mounted grenade launcher and the front and rear flip sights as well.

Whats the ring just forward of the gas block?  The LMT uppers for sale lack that ring.

I would suspect it's a notch for a grenade launcher.

LMT makes both a rail mounted M203 and a standard mil spec barrel mounted M203.
That doesn't look like an standard M203 notch, but it is a good guess.
The bottom rail of the MRP is not removable, so the standard M203 would not work and the rail mounted M203 has no use for a barrel mount.
I'm not sure what it is, I will be a Shot Shot next month.  I will get all the details by then.

That's a nice rifle. Had some tough competition but I'm glad to see LMT came out the winner.

I could be wrong, bit I think it's to differentiate the LMT 308MWS they use.

The MARS as an abbreviation/nomenclature is new within the NZDF, the MWS is just referred to as the DMW (Designated Marksman Weapon) in service. Probably see MARS come into the NZDF as the generic reference for any of the LMT rifles (be they 5.56 or 7.62) and the check letter being its type/role. The DMW could be brought into line as something like MARS-P (Precision)
