I figured putting a how-to in was better than leaving it in G D

From this thread http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1_5/1228688_Paracord_wrap.html

The 1st time I did this I was using 3/16 poly-pro rope that was wove with a solid center so I could only fit one layer in the grooves.

This time I used 550 cord so I had to use a double layer to fill the grooves.

Getting started let me say it's hard to keep the cord pulled tight and take pictures at the same time.

I used about 25 feet to do this wrap on a YHM carbine rail

Started by letting the tag end lay alongside the reciever then run the long end up around the far end of the 6:00 rail

Over to the 9:00 rail with a twist at the bottom to keep the long end a little more secured repeat until they all get the long loop over the ends

Next the long end is run through the last groove in the 6:00 rail then jumps up one to get lined up with the groove in the 3:00 rail then around the 12:00 then 9:00 to meet up with the 6:00 one again

Continue to the front.

Wrap around that last pin then work your way back down to the base

Then I ran the loose end under the wraps that stared this and tied it off with the tag end left along the reciever.

All that's left is to cut the ends and heat seal them making sure the knot lets the upper open fully.

When I put this one together about all there was for float tubes was the full round and full railed.

RunsBellows asked in the other thread about how I had done mine so I got this one back out and re-wrapped it.

Since this is the one my Daughter uses for 3-gun, I showed it to her and she wants the AFG back on

Ok, so I redo the whole thing to fit the AFG back on.

Next she said "How about half wrapped and half LaRue clips?"

"But daddy I want to see how it will work"
Back at it again...........

Looks like somebody got bored and had a little too much time on his hands.   Ya know if you really wanted to have paracord on hand, you could have just bought a paracord bracelet.  It's a tighter wave and you'd actually have more cord, should you ever need it.  As an added plus, you could wear it wherever and whenever and wouldn't be limited to only having it available when you shoot your AR.

Not really. I was on a job overseas and could add nothing to our rifles and the cane without rail covers.

We could use 550 cord and zip ties though. This would have been great for that.

No i am the one who got bored last night lol. I couldn't find a kydex mag holder so i decided to make my own out of para cord. Its not the prettiest but it works well doesnt snag when i pull it out. How applicable it is will be tested next time.
