I have a 16" mid-length upper with a fixed front sight post. Right now its running a moe handguard, but I don't really like the look of it. I'd like something that at least had a rail running along the top, if not a quad rail.

What are your recommendations? Should I go quad, or is it to heavy? I won't need all those rail slots, but I like the look. What handguards should I look at, keeping price and weight in mind?

On a side note, how much more accurate are free float handguards in terms of MOA in your experiences?

Centurion C-4 Midlength cutout.  It uses your existing barrel nut, so you do not need to remove it.  Just snip off the delta ring and handguard cap.

Free Float explained here:

Check out the Troy Battlerail. Full length top rail with shorter sections you can add on. You'll have to get a low profile gas block and you'll also be free floated, then you need BUIS.  It's a can of worms...

I think Fortis makes a cutout now, right?

I don't really need for the handguard to extend past the front sight post. Any shorter handguards that would still fit my upper? I love the qd mounts on the centurion.

Centurion also makes one that doesn't extend around.

If you don't want to modify the rifle in any way then check out the Daniel Defense Omega 9.0.  Rainier Arms has them on sale for a great price.  I have a 7.0 and a 9.0 and they are great for a easy drop in free float handguard.

Also the DD omega 9.0 is only like 1oz heavier than the MOE handguards.

I hate Quad rails myself. Anything I build gets free floated.
Then I put rails where I want them
I happen to like APEX. Used the standard barrel nut.
