I think you will encounter cycling issues with so little barrel in front of the gas block, not to mention the gigantic fireball mentioned above.

with an adjustable gas block you should be able to get the gas dialed in. most will argue against a 308 sbr but plenty of mfg's make short 308's. i have a 12.5" ar-10 and with a blackout flash hider it's no flame thrower , unless your doing a mag dump
i likey an ar-10 sbr

I just sent off the Form 1 today for a 12.5" AR10. I went with the Noveske Leonidas Barrel and pig brake for mine.

Do it. Runs fantastic. This one is F/A. Don't listen to the downers. 10" Ma-Ten. Run a good brake, Adj.Gas and its smooth and flat shooting.

Ive shot the 12" LWRC REPR's and they are fantastic guns. Also shot about a 6" Remington 700 in .308 the other day, that was fun

A new taller autosear has to be made (machined out of bar stock) with a different angle at the trip end The BCG has to be ground for clearance and sear trips welded precisely in place as there are no Full Auto .308 Carriers available Secondary buffer system added inside carrier to combat bolt bounce once its running Then get it all spaced and timed correctly. But once you get it right.....

you wont reach the optimal ballistics of the round. if you want a shorter setup, do it in 300bk |

a .30 hole in something is not more devastating than a .5 hole with transferred energy.
at the speed the .308 will be traveling, the round will not fragment. you'll just be punching a hole. the 300bk will expand and transfer energy. that's more powerful than punching a hole.. |

I would trust a 308 way more than a 300 BO out of my 10 inch or 14 inch whether we're talking penetration, CQB, or 500 yard distant. Then again I don't know for sure because there ain't a box of 300 BO ammo within 50 miles of me, but the mom and pop general store has plenty of 308. 300 Blackout will be a footnote in firearms history when 308 will still be in the top 5 rifle calibers sold/reloaded.
P.S. If I fire a 20 rd mag as fast as I can pull the trigger, I MAY get two 12 inch large flashes at the most. Hardly the fire breathing, eyebrow singeing dragon people who don't own one claim it will be. |

Sent my upper in with the can expecting to get a bill from them. 3 weeks later I got it back with new end caps and core with no invoice. Nate at YHM is great. I told them what I did and they just laughed. YHM is GTG. Now I run a SDN6. But no F/A...yet

its been done quite a few times here. from what i hear & have read, its an experiment until you get it right, so do some searches. most get it to work easily & reliably w/ a can on it. its w/ can off that they have initial reliability issues. best bet, get a noveske leonidas barrel. |
