Fantastic!  I have your 15" version on my 20" AR and love it.  Will be picking one up after my G2 arrives.

I have to say that MI is one of the few aluminum handguard manufacturers that has really impressed me with the SS GII Lo profile models.

They are crazy lightweight, and still rigid on the AR15. This is really great news for the GII.

This will fit all versions of the G2 I assume.   I have the G2 Bull and don't care for the slick handguards.

What MI Gen2SS rail should be used for the DPMS GII AP4?  The original since the external dimensions of the GII barrel nut should be the same as an AR15?

Thanks

Not totally sure of the answer to your question, sorry.
I would like to add we will be coming out with the Original Gen2SS version for the DPMS g2 as well. That is a non key mod with removable rail or panel sections.
thanks

I literally just ordered one from Bud's because of this...

Edit, so this doesn't use the factory barrel nut?  How are you guys removing the original barrel nut?  I'm under the impression that the upper receiver has different dimensions than a standard AR15 or DPMS receiver.

I put a strap wrench on my recon rail and pulled the rail and barrel nut in one piece. the new mi rail is next. 1/2 the weight.

mi rail 9oz
stock rail 18oz

Was it in a vice? Can you use a standard ar15 armorer's wrench?  How was the upper secured?

I put it in my vice with a home made vice block out of wood. then I heated the rail to brake lose the loctite. but what happened is when I used a strap wrench to the rail. it didn't brake lose. but the barrel nut did. so it came off in one piece. a win for me.

First of all, I have to say, that's one sexy rail.

But I'm not sure I get what you are saying about standard AR15 rails not fitting the GII. It depends on the rail.

I have the Gen II SASS, I took the heavy quad rail off, and screwed on a lightweight rail from Nordic Components that was made for an AR15 using the existing Gen II barrel nut. Screwed one off, screwed the other one right back on. It took five minutes tops and I had a much slimmer, lighter, 15" free float rail. So any rail that doesn't use any type of adapter or different barrel nut can be used.

This rail is the one I used.

I assume that because the MI barrel nut is so small for the AR15 that the new thread size of the GII was too large for the inner diameter of the handguard/outer diameter of the barrel nut. If you don't mind me asking what thread did DPMS go with on the GII (just wondering how much bigger the extension is)
