This may have already been answered, but I have looked and couldn't find anything so here goes....

I am starting a pistol build and I am planning on a 10.5" barrel and a Noveske KX5.  I am looking for a barrel length that will partially shroud the KX5, only leaving an 1" to 1.5" sticking out.  Would a 12", 12.37" or 13" work best?

so far I have an Aero Precision upper and lower, Thordson buffer tube cover and CAA cheek rise, and a KAK SUPER SIG SB-15 Pistol Buffer Tube.

With the 10.5" barrel and the KX5's OAL of 3.25, you should have approx 13.25" from upper to end of flash can, (0.5" of the barrel will be threaded into the flash can).  The 12" rail will hit about the midpoint of what you were looking to achieve.

I'm running a Troy 9" rail (really 9.25") on a 7.5" barrel with a MAS Defense flash can (same OAL as the KX5) and I have just under 1" of the can exposed.

I had a 12.37'' Rainier handguard and it was fantastic with the Slim Flash Can from KAK. IIRC its the same dimensions as the KX5. It left about .7'' sticking out, so if you want more than that get a slightly shorter handguard.

i used a mas defense 10 1/2 in stainless barrel and a UTG Pro slim rail. it says 13 inch but is actually 12 1/2 inches and a KAK slim can and it sticks out maybe a 1/2 inch.
