Hello guys,
I've been scrounging parts for a 604 build.   Today I picked up a Colt largo hole 604 upper.  It's a dark greyish / green color.  Almost like an M1 Garand receiver color.
Does anyone know what color and brand paint to spray my AR lower to match ?  I've looked at Brownell's, but the Alumahyde and Duracoat doesn't specify Colt grey.
Thanx in advance...............

I don' tknow how to make a hot link, so do a search on google for Norrells's Molycoat.    They offer a coating to match the several different Colt colors that have been used over the years. It's not an easy aerosol spray though, has to be thinned and sprayed through an air brush. (they may offer some kind of aerosol, not sure. Just know that their good stuff is air brush applied)

Hey colddeadhands, heres a pic of my 604 done with Norrells (Grayish-black flat) I find that it does have a slight greenish tint to it. My pic taking skills don't show it though. If you like, I can take a bunch of pics of some of my other builds and e-mail them to you. I will tell you though, that I LOVE this stuff. All of my builds are Norrells moly resin. Yes, those are rain drops, it was raining while I was photographing.

Ancient Chinese secret!

When you hit reply or quote or whatever there are little black boxes under the white box you type in.

Second one from the right has a globe and chain link. Clicky clicky and you get a pop up box. Type in what you want the link to say or just paste the link and click OK then paste the link in the second pop up and you is good to go!

Gordog those are SEXY pics of that 604! Pure gun porn!

ETA The Norrel's looks dayum good!

Does it stink when you put it in Mama's oven?

My dream is to have a huge shop with an old oven in the corner for just such projects.

And of course a 100 yard range right out the back to test my work out!

Working on it. Florida boondocks aint as cheap as it used to be.

I bought a $5 toaster oven from goodwill and put it in the shed for doing smaller parts. I did one barrel in the house oven. I told her I was curing paint in the oven, and if the smell bothered her to leave.

It's also my house, and I'm not married yet. So bake all your indoor stuff before you tie the knot.

Thanx for the e-mail offer Gordog, but I think that pic tells all.  That stuff looks like just what I'm looking for.  Your build looks great.  Now I have to decide to either Ceracote the upper matte black to match everything else, or
use the Norells to coat everything else to match the upper.  Decisions, decisions

I think Norells would be the best option, but has anyone used Duracoat ?  I like the idea of doing it myself.   If anyone has used it, what color did you use ?  The Colt gray in their color chart looks too dark.
The upper is a large hole upper that I installed the bushing in.  I believe early '70's.
Here's the contrast with a commercial lower.  The upper is in nice shape.  I'd rather try to match the lower if possible.  Thanx !!!!!!
