I was told I should post this onn the retro board.

I was given a ar15 lower today I'm trying to figure out what kind of Aluminum stock is on it.
Just want to see if its worth anything to someone doing a retro build.
I really have no plans of keeping it just not my cup of tea.
The lower was  a hesse so no big deal there think Ill use it for a .22.
Here is a picture of the stock there are no markings on it either.
I cant get better pictures til this weekend when I pick it up.

It doesnt have the original buffer tube either, It fits on a Mil spec tube

Any marking under that locking lever ?  It may be small and hard to see, but that's the first place I would look.

There are others on here that can help ID it.

Hesse used aluminum CAR stocks like that on some of their carbines. No idea who made them, but the quality looks comparable to the rest of their stuff. I remember reading a review in 'American Survivalist' back in '90 - '91 when I lived in Oregon, and remember two things - the entire carbine was grey, and it had an aluminum stock. Probably Nesard? Perfect lower assy for a .22 build. Hard to go wrong with free, Hesse or not. FWIW, I wanted one of them back then because I liked the look of the grey better than black. Little did I know where that would lead...

Its not a hesse stock I know that . The person I got the lower from original got it stripped over 10 years ago. He added the stock he found it at a flea market.

Now that I look at it closer, there's a good chance it's Colt. Someone else will jump in here soon I'm sure.

the buttpad pattern is like the colt but there were a few companies that used that pattern as well.

if you look under the lever on the body, see if you see an of these markings 1, 2, NN.  also look on the underside of the latch to see if you see any markings there.

I was able to get him to send me a pic of the bottom, I'm not seeing any  markings.

The butt portion looks too thick for a Colt.  Also, the tube is not right for a Colt.  Purplish black like SGW used to do on their tubes.  My guess is a SGW or PWA stock.  Looks like one I had in the 90s (that I later painted with gloss black).

It has a 4 position buffer tube also. But I dont know if its original to the stock.

The 2 things I notice that say to me "Non-Colt" is the thickness of the buttplate and the radius of the front of the locking lever.  Plus the overall finish.

My first guess would of been Hesse like Morg mentioned.

I dont think it a hesse. For some reason I remember him owning a pwa commando that he stripped out an sold the pre ban lower around 2000/2001.

I think it is a Nesard, like mentioned earlier. It might not have been original to the Hesse lower as they're pretty easy to swap around.  I wouldn't complain because it looks pretty nice for free.  You should post over on the rimfire and pistol forum what you're planning to do with the lower because I've learned a lot over there.
