I shot a class this past weekend with guys who were shooting aac.  Was hotter than the federal I was shooting, not as fast as the imi.
they liked it.

My order just showed up, not bad. I can dig the new improved PSA shipping times now

What's a case with them that comes packed in its own carboard box? Is it 500 or 1,000? Asking because the individual 20 round box packaging looks flimsy and despite their best efforts with protecting it, it looks like they're all ready to come apart at any second. I'd prefer to just buy it buy whatever the case count number is, if there's a next time.

@bfoosh06

Perdy ain’t they?

They aren’t all dented in the same spot. Some on the neck, others midway of the brass, some pinged where the color change / annealing is.

Some info before I get to the range in the next week hopefully for velocity and accuracy tests. 10 random rounds pulled from 3 different boxes of the same lot. A few cases had very light dings in them, less than the above pics/nothing to worry about. Consistent seating. 👍🏻

Thank you, I'd be very interested in seeing the ten shot groups to see if the bullet jumps from a bunch of OAL's can maintain it's consistency or am I chasing BS claims.

I shot 4 rounds though the chrono, one dupe.  16" barrel

2762
2744
2777
2795

2769.5 average

Didn't get to do accuracy testing as I was doing pistols and not enough room.  I will hopefully do acc and more rounds this weekend.

I shot the Geissele / WAR gas gun match on Saturday.  There were a couple of us shooting various AAC ammo loadings, and while one of my friends had issues with pierced primers in a hotter batch of 77gr SMK's (2800+ fps in a 20" rifle), the rest of us had good results.  I couldn't detect a difference in performance between the IMI that I usually use and the AAC 77gr OTM. Winds on the range were particularly mild - typically edge of plate stuff, although I got to about 1 mil during one of the stages.  Unfortunately, my scope turret came loose during the longest stage, so I timed out before firing at the 77x yard target, but I was able to connect with the 686 yd target after figuring out the remaining elevation and wind.

Was finally able to shoot some today. Long story short, I’m impressed and plan to stock up with the AAC 77gr OTM. It grouped very similar to the AAC 75gr and AAC 77gr SMK. I am more than happy with 1.00 MOA-1.25 MOA at $.55/rnd and I was there and below today. I have pictures but don’t mess with a photo hosting site to upload here, so if anyone needs picture evidence, feel free to email me and I’ll send them.

Next thing I want to do with the remaining 40 rounds I currently have is shoot out to 500-700 yards when I’m able to get to the family farm to do so. Hopefully in the next couple weeks.

Plug basic data into any ballistic calculator and it'll spit out numbers that should be pretty close. For example, here's the data I put into Strelok (which is no longer readily available):

And it generates a chart like this:

Yeah pretty close to mine.  Really gonna depend on how your ammo chronos which is why it's good to have a chronograph and not rely on what the box says.
Here is mine:

With the PA 1-8 PlxC scope, I can use the BDC out to 600 just fine.  I don't have anywhere to test out to 800 to see if it's still on.

Thanks guys, I was using Vortex ballistic calculator and didn't see the ammo listed..

I have tried to side load Strelock but can't find it anywhere since it was taken off the play store.

Any leads on where to purchase it? I checked his website a week or two ago and it isn't there

Well I just ordered another 2k of it. Be interesting to see if it groups the same from the 2k I bought a month ago.

I will give it a test and chrono both lots at some point if I remember to.

Finally got out to group and chrono AAC 5.56 75 BTHP MATCH, and the 5.56 OTM. I forgot to reset the chrono for strings for deviation, but got the average for a ten shot group. I shot two ten shot groups off a bipod and rear bag with max of 2 seconds between shots. I was not even trying to shoot for groups. I used my LARUE 18” UU rifle. Never cleaned the barrel and have 2125 rounds through it. This barrel loves Hornady black 223 75 bthp. It averages .75 Moa with this load. The AAC 75 bthp match was just over half an moa. The 77 OTM was easily 1/2 moa or less. It’s extremely accurate.  I didn’t notice any large velocity differences between shots and had at least two duplicates on each string.
Temp 85, elevation 1300, 12% humidity. 18” larue stealth, 78 yards
75 BTHP AVG 2742

I used my 18" rifle that I use for local gas gun and occasional PRS matches. Trigger is a Geissele HSNM adjusted to near the recommended minimums, and it's topped with a Nightforce ATACR 4-16x42 FFP scope with the mil xt reticle.  Barrel is an 18" Larue Stealth with M4 ramps that has around 2 - 2.5k on it if I had to guess. Groups were fired from a bench, using the bipod up front and a gamechanger/fortune cookie style bag under the stock. It was sunny, low 80's with some gusty winds here and there. Typical PA springtime...

It's historically liked IMI Razorcore 77gr ammo, and is good for 7/8" to 1" groups in my hands. I'd like to believe I'm better than that, but I don't have any precision bolt guns to see if I actually am, so I'll have to consider that the baseline.

https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/316444/20230412_194455_jpg-2780265.JPG

My test process wasn't the most scientific, but I tried to keep a fairly level playing field by firing 5 rounds, switching targets, chronograph strings and ammo, then firing 5 more and working my way through the selections. Then I worked my way back through the collection for a total of 10 rounds of each ammo on each target. Then I switched target colors, since I seemed to be shooting better at red aiming points and repeated the process, although I ran out of Black Hills. Finally, to wrap things up for giggles I fired 10 rounds each of IMI and AAC about as quickly as I could get settled back onto target, since my eyes were starting to struggle a bit.  Chrono data is in reverse order:

Black Hills 77 grain. I don't know which box color this was, as I traded with a friend for the loose ammo a couple years ago, and just had a couple rounds remaining. The 9 shots my chronograph picked up were 2650, 2624, 2645, 2624, 2629, 2583, 2619, 2614 for 2623 fps average, 67 es, 20 sd.

https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/316444/20230412_194723_jpg-2780296.JPG

Or dropping the worst shot or two, in case I was responsible for a flyer or two:
https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/316444/20230412_194735_jpg-2780298.JPG

Frontier 75gr Hornady :  I picked this ammo up last season because some of the guys I know were having pretty good luck with it and it was a good bit cheaper. I didn't have time to shoot for groups or chrono data before the a couple of matches, and while it shot OK, I could tell it wasn't as consistent as the IMI I usually use. 15 shots registered on the chronograph: 2721, 2743, 2766, 2749, 2766, 2743, 2704, 2749, 2732, 2645, 2682, 2677, 2688, 2661, 2672 for 2713 average, 121 es, and 40 sd.

https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/316444/20230412_194707_jpg-2780310.JPG

Or dropping 1-2 shots as above:

https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/316444/20230412_194913_jpg-2780311.JPG

IMI 77gr SMK:
My chronograph picked up 16 rounds during the standard string of fire at 2624, 2682, 2614, 2619, 2666, 2661, 2614, 2614, 2604, 2629, 2614, 2578, 2661, 2635, 2614, 2588 for 2626 average, 104 es, 28 sd. This was about 50 fps slower than my historic recorded speeds - it might be about time to clean this rifle again.

The chrono picked up all 10 rounds from my rapid fire string at 2588, 2604, 2604, 2583, 2629, 2594, 2619, 2614, 2614, 2624 for 2607 average, 46 es 15 sd.

https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/316444/20230412_194628_jpg-2780316.JPG

I wish I knew what caused this group to be so much bigger than the normal results I was seeing with this ammo, but it is what it is and I'm not going to hide it...
https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/316444/20230412_194614_jpg-2780318.JPG

Rapid:
https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/316444/20230412_194754_jpg-2780319.JPG

Or again, removing the worst shot or two:

AAC 77gr with their in-house 77gr OTM: The chronograph was cooperating quite well and captured all 20 of the standard string and the 10 rapid shots.
Data was 2656, 2699, 2645, 2721, 2715, 2661, 2704, 2677, 2726, 2715, 2743, 2760, 2760, 2777, 2783, 2732, 2743, 2732, 2710, 2710 for 2718 average, 138 es, and 38 sd. It was apparent that this round had a little more power than my IMI stuff.  The rapid fire string came up with 2732, 2704, 2732, 2743, 2710, 2749, 2650, 2715, 2710, 2732 for 2717 fps average, 99 es, and 28 sd.

Rapid:

Removing 1 or 2 poorer shots, either for error or to illustrate what would be possible if they can dial in the velocity spread a bit:

Hopefully it's all there and organized after a million edits to get around the 5 image limit...

Outstanding report @dlm1984. Thank you. Interesting about the IMI running a bit slower. Not a huge deal in a full length rifle, but it would make me nervous if I was counting on a 10.3-11.5” gun. Although I know the powder type may make a difference (fast or slow burn).

I tested this in our 16" DD .625 lightweight barreled factory upper with a Leupold Mk6 1-6x 5.56 CMR-W. I compared AAC 75gr, AAC 77gr SMK, IMI 77gr Razorcore, and our 75gr Hornady BTHP handloads that I had worked up for a previous service rifle barrel that shot well in subsequent WOA service rifle barrels and a few of our mil-spec barrel builds too. I shot 1 5-shot group each at 100y and got velocity data. This is how it fared:

69.4F, 27.54 inHg, 19.5% humidity
Hornady 75gr Handloads: 1.25", Avg velo: 2707 fps, 20.8 SD
AAC 75gr BTHP: 1.15", Avg velo: 2721 fps, 14.2 SD
AAC 77gr SMK: 1.5", Avg velo: 2699, 16.7 SD
IMI 77gr Razorcore: 1.2", Avg velo: 2671 fps, 31.7 SD

The AAC 75gr shot the best, had good velocity, and had the best SD. Hilariously it also also zeroed better than our Hornady 75gr handloads. Since the Mk6 has .2 mil clicks, you can be slightly high or slightly low between clicks, it just so happens that our zero is slightly high. However the AAC 75gr had better elevation. Here's a pic of the 50y POI shift, as I wanted to see the shift in order to dial it out on the turrets. They're just 3-shot groups at 50y:

https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/75150/IMG_2301_JPG-2782727.JPG
https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/75150/IMG_2302_JPG-2782728.JPG

Then I shot some mid/LR on steel with it. Here's the first run with the ammo. It seemed to do well and the price is really good. I'll definitely be buying more of it

Comparison on steel.  Both held middle target.  Lot more center hits with the new lot.

600yd steel
slower lot

vs newer faster lot

Ordered 3 boxes of the 77 TMK load, a box of their 77 OTM, a box of the 77 SMK and a box of the 55 VMAX.

All for testing.

Loving what I've seen so far in this thread.

I grabbed 300 rounds of the TMK for testing, if my guns like it Ill get a couple cases. Probably should order a few case of the OTM as well soon as well.

Couple more data points on PSA 77gr OTM.  Shot a 20 round box of this stuff through my CLE 18" upper.  First 5 shot group was pretty pathetic.  Probably somewhere around 1.25-1.3" at 100 yards.  Next three five shot groups were .80, .75 and .6, which is about as good as I'm capable of with an AR.

Next range session ran some through my DD 14.5" upper, shooting suppressed.  Upper has a Steiner 4 x prism scope on it (which I'm really liking).  Just plinking steel at 200.  Sandbag up front, no support in rear.  Was getting pretty consistent hits on 6" gongs at 200 yard as well as a silhouette gopher that was about 3" at it's widest point and 8-9" high.  Again pretty happy with the result particularly at less than .60 per round. Think I could take this ammo out to 400 with my DD and Steiner scope and still get a pretty good percentage of hits on an IPSIC size target, which is all I'd really expect with this set up.  Keep ordering more of this stuff since it's cheap enough that I can use it as long distance plinking ammo.

Just a quick update for anyone still following this thread.

My original lot number was SCL1CC241. I ordered 1k rounds, and received lot # SCL1CE221.  While flying 80-150+ FPS slower than the previous rounds (depending on rifle), the ES and SD are notably improved.  I didn't have much time to run through tests, and shooting my 14.5" and 18" gas guns back to back with notably different triggers didn't do any favors. I had 2 shots that broke before I was ready on my 18" gun, and I'm fairly certain they account for the 2 rounds to the top right.   I called the lower shot on the 14.5 gun, and strongly suspect the left most shot was on me, too.

Hit the range today with bit of a time limit. Only had time to get some groups at the 50 yard line. Here is a pic of 2 groups. Same target unfortunately.  The 3 to the left are the the first string. The center 3 were probably the 5th group after a MINOR adjustment.shot off a bipod with no rear bag. 16 inch larue barrel. Geissele g2s. Vortex 2.5-10

Valid point, given the price point, I would say the same to others, and I have. A good load priced for a budget minded shooter.

I might try to sell off some of my 55gr, and just restock with the AAC 77gr OTM.

If stacking for shtf I’d probably not swap double sealed 193 for this.  I’d just hold onto the 193 and buy the otm

I took out some aac 77gr smk and 77otm yesterday and found the results to be somewhat surprising. My 20” shot the SMKs sub-moa but absolutely hated the otms. I didn’t measure the groups but they were all over the place (guessing 3-4 moa). I also shot some pmc m193, federal 50gr varmint, and norma 223 to sanity check what was going on with the groups and it also hated the m193, but the federal and normal shot sub moa as well. I think my gun just may be picky given all of the positive reviews I’ve seen on the otm ammo. For those interested it’s a 20” BA premium 223 wylde DMR profile barrel in a Bcm thermal fit upper with a geissele mk8 rail

I went back the the range today with an AR15 I built. First time out wasn’t good. Retorqued the gun and shot much better today. Shot 30 or so 193 and let it cool completely. Then shot AAC 77 Matchking, AAC 77 TMK, AAC 75 Sabre and AAC 75 BTHP Match. I forgot to order the OTM when I ordered all of these. As of now my gun shoots best to worst: 1. TMK, 2. Sabre, 3. Matchking, 4. BTHP. TMK was the clear winner with many of my 5 round groups having 4 of 5 holes touching.
I will be order more of all these rounds.
