I'm in the market for one of those piggyback red dots for the ACOG. It is for my main SD weapon. I am very quick with the ACOG from 50yds and out but CQB I'm having a little trouble picking the sight up quickly as I do with my Aimpoint T1. So, I am after the best of both worlds.

I did the searches and haven't found alot of info on the subject.

Any info concerning mounts and sights themselves are appreciated.

Trijicon makes them.  Go to the RMR section, then red dot accessories and mounts here

What kind of ACOG do you have?  Hopefully it's a TA01NSN or TA31DOC, or one with the anchors already on either side of the eye piece.  The Trijicon mount for ACOGs without them, such as TA01, TA31, TA11, doesn't have a very secure way of mounting the upper half to the lower half ring.

The two piece mount doesn't seem to have anything secure to hold on to on the eye piece, it's easy to mount it in a way that's not flush with the eye piece, resulting in uneven mounting.

The mount for TA01NSN, TA31DOC, etc., is very good.  I suggest a protective wing mount, unless you're mounting the new RMR.

     TA31F

Thanks for the good info. Is that new RMR waterproof?

Thats not good news about the 2-piece mounts. Its hard to hold zero if your mount isn't stable.

Are you dead-set on the piggyback option? You may want to consider an offset mount, like those pictured below. Just something to think about.

I like that option.

I am running a TA01NSN with a Trijicon red dot piggyback on a wing protected mount.
I also own an RCO ACOG and after looking at that scope, I decided the NSN was the better scope for
the piggyback option as it was product developed with that specification in mind.

I use the RCO scope in conjunction with a Reflex ll point optic that is mounted on the right side forend rail.

I am thinking that if you are using any ACOG other than the TA01NSN then that offset option may be your best choice.

If you have an ACOG 4X and like the Aimpoint T1 I would go with either the LaRue Mount or the Daniel Defence Mount with a T1.  They are both good choices and if you do not have a LaRue mount for your ACOG you are missing out.
