So I ordered a Trijicon RMR and received it today. I figured it would come with a mount but it did not.
Trijicon is closed so I can not call them and as far as I know they do not have an industry forum so I figured I would ask this here. Is it normal for them to sell a optic without selling a basic mount? I understand that their are a lot of ways to mount this product but I still expect a trijicon optic to come with some sort of a mount, since it is not the type of optic you can run to a shooting sports store and get a mount for. I really did not budget another $100 to mount this thing. Any information on if this is normal procedure would be great. Thanks.

Some Aimpoint models do not come with mounts either and they are not scopes that you could buy mounts for at a local sporting goods store.

The M2, M2L, M3, M3L  Aimpoints are 30mm bodies, you can find mounts locally not specifically designed for them easily enough.
RMR and mini red dot mounts are either Optima2000/JPoint type or Docter type, there are options like height, protective wings, QD, etc.  When you buy a variable magnification scope it usually doesn't come with a mount either.

Some models of the ACOGs come with flat top mounts, most of them will work on a carry handle as is, with flat top mounts as options.

Interested to see what happens with this, I have heard it is hard to find mounts for the RMR's. Trying to decide between a RMR and one of the new Eotech XPS's for my 12ga Saiga.

you know TNVC, I hate when you post pictures.
whenever you do, I end up spending more money! That goes for stickman and Mark as well!

well I ordered the tall mount. I am going to be putting the RMR on a Beretta CX4 storm. When I get it done I will post a pic, but its going to be a while.
The carbine is going to be a Lauer for color change!

I saw one today... It had a rail mount built in to it... it was the Dual Power... IE: no power but tritum/fiber optic.... it was super bright...  I was really impressed. I want one to put on my AR Pistol build but its going to need a riser.....I like what I saw thought.

Check our website, currently we are the only company (other than TNVC) that make a mount for the RMR.  I am hoping that DD, LaRue and BoBro step up and make one as well.

I've got the RMR (9moa dot) on the wife's PS90. Surprisingly, the dot is brighter under all lighting conditions than the 6.5moa dot on my beloved Trijicon RX30's! It's great for her since there are no switches, batteries or adjustments to worry about (very KISS). I'd considered replacing my RX30's w/the RMR but the dot's too big for me yet is exceptional for fast close-in shots (again, great for the CQB PS90). Great little sight but no perfect for all situations or setups.

What kind of mount would you like to see?  Since the RMR is already ruggedized, it probably makes scant sense to make a mount with protective wings.
Standard height and RASII height flat top mounts?

Can you provide any thoughts with the combination of the RMR mounted on a 1.5 or 2x ACOG?

What situations do you consider the RMR to have a weakness in?

I am considering options for my PS90 and am thinking that an LED-RMR 8.0moa mounted on a 1.5 or 2x ACOG might be perfect. At ranges from 0-50m the red dot would be fast and from 50-200m the ACOG would give accurate shots to weapons max effective range. The LED model would give excellent low light ability but the dual model is much simpler, I just am not sure about the amber color in the bright desert.

Thank you

According to Trijicon the RMR was designed specifically for use as an auxilliary CQB sight on magnified optics so there's no reason it shouldn't work on an ACOG (although on a 1.5x/2x I wonder if it would be worth it as you have to change your head position/cheekweld to use the RMR).
The only significant weaknesses I'm aware of are the relatively small FOV through the optic itself (which could make it slower/more difficult to find the dot when shooting from unconventional positions), the large 9moa dot isn't suited for anything much beyond 150m and the possibility of reticle washout (very difficult to achieve w/the RMR but still possible).
W/regards to the amber dot remember that the fiber optics will feed more light to the dot the brighter the ambient lighting is, making the dot brighter automatically. In bright Idaho sunlight I have no problem seeing the amber dots of the RMR or RX30, they literally blaze (I had to cover the fiber optics of the RX30's & RMR when sighting-in to get the dot dim enough for a decent sight-in).
My personal fav optic setups on the PS90 are the Aimpoint C3 in the TROS ultralow PS90 mount, an Aimpoint Micro on an aftermarket rail (or PS90 TR if that's what you have) or the RMR for the ultimate in PS90 KISS sights.
HTH...

How would one of these RMR rights (led powered, 4 MOA reticle) workout for a primary optic on a 16" middy setup for CQB?

I run them on two carbine, have been on the rifles for over a year.  Works great as a primary sight.

Cool thanks. I will be using a fixed FSB though, will this be a problem for setting it up as an absolute co-witness since the lens is so small?
I live about 20 min away from Wixom. hell, I pedal my bicycle there sometimes. I wonder if I could just go down there and look at them up close myself

i really want the 7MOA tritium/fiber optic version for my mossberg shotgun with ghost rings. with the lowest mount, will they still be usable?

i love the RX30, but im looking for something a bit smaller and lighter for the shotgun, and i hate batteries.

I've got mine on my 10.5" LMT on the RASII hump, with LaRue rear BUIS.
Love it, wonderful co-witness, when shooting I rarely notice the sights, I see a 4MOA red dot on the center of the silhouette (both eyes open!).
For longer shots, say, prone @ 100 yards, I can line up the irons with the dot in a way that is helpful to accuracy/consistency/cheekweld.

Interesting. I was thinking that if I didn't like the RMR on the AR, I could always put it on a HD shotty and it would work out well.

Has any one seen a LaRue mount for the RMR?
